About Katie Powell Acupuncture

I am a qualified nurse with 10 years experience in accident and emergency medicine. Now, a fully qualified acupuncture practitioner and registered with the British Acupuncture Council. I am pragmatic yet sensitive and a good listener. I am passionate about Chinese Medicine and acupuncture as I feel this approach has so much to offer for people who don't feel on top of the world either physically or emotionally. Acupuncturist Consultation

I practiced as a nurse for 10 years gaining experience in accident and emergency medicine. I am now a fully qualified acupuncture practitioner registered with the British Acupuncture Council. Treatment is successful for muscle pain, low back pain, fatigue and low energy, anxiety and stress, headaches, IBS and menstrual problems, for example.

I can provide treatment during pregnancy to maintain health and well being, and also for minor disorders such as morning sickness.

I am a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, a  group of practitioners with a special interest in fertility issues.

I can help muscle pain, arthritis using Tuina, a remedial massage developed in China and used alongside acupuncture or on its own.

 

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture is used to enhance acupuncture treatment for many muscular problems. A small electrical current is passed though the needles to stimulate blood flow to an injured area, thus providing a good environment for tissue healing and repair.

 

Fertility Acupuncture

I am a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, a professional interest group in treating those with fertility issues. I can provide IVF support. Acupuncture is known to improve the uterine blood supply, which increases the chances for embryo implantation.

Biography:

Katie Powell, RGN, BA(Hons) English Literature, Bsc (Hons) Acupuncture, Member of the British Acupuncture Council. I am based in Clanfield and Westbourne so regularily treat people from Denmead, Clanfield, Waterlooville, Denmead, Rowlands Castle, Westbourne, Southbourne, Emsworth and Havant.

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1987 and worked for six years within the areas of acute and accident and emergency medicine both in St Richard’s hospital in Chichester and Queen Alexandra hospital in Cosham, Portsmouth.

My interest in acupuncture and Chinese medicine developed from years of nursing care, where I increasingly noticed how modern life with all its emotional and physical stresses and strains impacts on people’s health. My background in nursing and strong understanding of illness from a Western medical point of view allows me to have a foot in both camps. My knowledge of Western and Chinese views of health and illness is used to approach your health problem in a sensitive yet pragmatic way.
