Lorraines Health Clinic - Acupuncture Clinic in Ireland

Lorraine's Health Clinic

564 Howth Road, Raheny, 5
I have been practising acupuncture for 15 years and specialise in Acupuncture for Fertility and Gynaecology. I also have diplomas in Nutrition and Stress Management which I find extremely useful in the area of Fertility. I am also afiliated to Zita West who has written many books on Fertility issues. I also use acupuncture for Morning Sickness, Symphysis Pubis pain, Induction and many other problems associated with pegnancy. I also do a lot of Pre-birth Acupuncture which helps to promote natural labour. These treatments can help prepare a womans body for birth in particular preparing the cervix and pelvis for labour. This can result in an easier and more efficient labour. Of course I use acupuncture for other problems also such as Sciatica, Arthritis, Sinusitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome,Insomnia, Stress and many more. Allergy Testing is also very popular in our clinic. I test for over 100 foods and substances and the results can be had within45 minutes. This test is pain free!

Acupuncture is a therapeutic practice that originated in China thousands of years ago. In western medicine, the goal is often to diagnose disease and treat it specifically; in acupuncture, the goal is to strengthen the entire mind and body, supporting our inherent resilience and resistance to disease. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy (Qi, pronounced ‘chee’) moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels (meridians) beneath the skin that connect the interior and exterior of the body, and the internal systems to each other. Qi consists of equal and opposite qualities – Yin and Yang. When Qi becomes blocked or disrupted, illness can result. Acupuncture aims to bring all systems into balance by inserting fine needles into the meridians. It can also be used to complement conventional medicine. What can acupuncture treat? Acupuncture has been used to treat a range of conditions including: *       Anxiety and depression. *       Arthritis and rheumatism. *       Asthma. *       High blood pressure. *       Menstrual cramps. *       Skin problems. *       Pain relief in childbirth. *       Addiction – smoking, alcohol and drugs. What happens during an acupuncture session? If it is your first session, the acupuncturist will assess your general health to ensure that you receive the most effective treatment. They may enquire about your current symptoms, treatment you have received so far, medical history, your close family’s medical history, diet, digestive system, sleeping patterns and emotional state. Computerised EnergyTesting Health screening includes 30 minutes of a unique opportunity to be screened by a premier computerised tool that analyses and documents the energetic status of Acupuncture Meridians. Equipped with this invaluable information, the practitioner will analyse your condition. Traditionally, acupuncture diagnosis was performed by feeling the pulse, inspecting the tongue and observing the patient. Modern methods employ advanced technology to analyse the meridians, locate imbalances and select treatment points. A computer probe is used to measure electrical resistance at 24 points on the hands and feet; this unobtrusive exam takes about 2 minutes. The resulting computer analysis gives complete information and recommendations helping your practitioner develop a more accurate picture of your energetic health. Should you wish to get a health screening only or first, before deciding on the acupuncture treatment itself, we charge 20 euro .This will be deducted from the treatment price if you decide to go ahead with the acupuncture treatment. You will get a printed report of your energy testing filled with colourful fascinating charts and detailed information on your overall energetic health. Patients are screened at every treatment to analyse and track their progress, therefore providing the most suitable treatment for the healing of the given complaint.
Fertility Acupuncture €50 - €70
Acupuncture 4 Women specializes in women’s health, helping women through each stage of pregnancy, from pre-conception care and support during infertility treatments, through pregnancy and birth, to successful post natal care. Of all the available treatments for infertility, acupuncture isnt one that people usually think of first, but it’s actually one of the safest and most effective treatments for infertility known to modern science. Why does it work so well? Because infertility isnt usually a physical problem. Its often an issue related to circulation or energy channels that govern the vitality of your body’s organs (including reproductive organs). Rebalancing those bioelectric channels can create enormous healing changes in the function of your reproductive organs. Fertility issues Up to 60% increase rate of successful IVF, IUI..  Pregnancy related conditions Pre birth treatments Post natal careWhichever stage you are at, we are here to provide a helping hand every step of the way. We will help you and your baby to have the best pregnancy possible Some of the women I treat are not able to get pregnant because they are not ovulating.  It turns out that acupuncture can have a powerful effect on the ovaries. Acupuncture can increase blood flow in the pelvic region improving the blood supply to the reproductive organs, improving the quality of the uterine lining and nourishing the developing follicle. Acupuncture has a normalizing effect on reproductive hormones. It reduces the effects of stress on the body and lowers stress related hormones that can impede ovulation.
Auricular Acupuncture €50 - €70
Auricular acupuncture (on the ear) is capable of producing results comparable to those of drug therapy in the treatment of infertility. Unlike regular acupuncture, auricular acupuncture focuses only on the ear. There are over 200 acupuncture points on the outer ear. Most of these points are named after a part of the human anatomy. The outer ear is essentially a switch board to the brain and when acupoints on the ear are stimulated, they trigger electrical impulses to the specific area of the body that is being treated. Auricular Acupuncture is the part of the regular acupuncture treatment you will receive in our clinic and involves no additional cost.

Fertility Acupuncture up to €50
Increase Fertility with Acupuncture. There are many reasons why couples have difficulty conceiving - irregular menstruation, hormone imbalance, cold uterus, low sperm count to name a few. Whatever the reason infertility can be a major cause of stress and hopelessness in otherwise healthy couples. Acupuncture combined with herbal medicine has been used for centuries to treat the causes of infertility. Acupuncture in particular has been known to dramatically increase fertility by regulating the menstrual cycle in females and invigorating and increasing sperm count in males. A German Study conducted in 2002 used two groups of woman experiencing fertility difficulties, to determine the effects of acupuncture on IVF treatments. In the first group acupuncture treatments were carried out 25 minutes before embryo transfer and 25 minutes after the embryo was inserted into the uterus. In the second group no acupuncture treatments were given. Study findings showed a successful pregnancy rate of 42.5% in the first group of woman compared to 26.3% in the second group that had no acupuncture treatments. This highlighted a significant difference of 16.2% between the two groups of woman. In each Care Cure clinic we look for the underlying problem of disharmony which is preventing conception. Treatments for fertility difficulties and male impotency usually include acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion and herbal medicines.
Acupressure €10 - €40
Acupressure is a good alternative for anyone suffering from a phobia of needles as it follows the same principle as acupuncture. It works by stimulating the same acupuncture points on the surface of the body but instead of using needles, the practitioner will apply pressure with the hands. Acupressure is an effective method of improving blood circulation and repairing tissue damage throughout the body. Via nerve stimulation acupressure can induce relaxation and improve skin tone, ease tension in muscles and joints, repair facial lymph damage and generally tone the body. For this reason it is often used as a facial beauty therapy. Acupressure has also seen considerable success in curing insomnia, lessening fatigue and dispelling back and joint pain.

It’s a lovely, well-kept and professional clinicGreg, Dublin, 28 09 18

After trying everything else to solve my shoulder problems, I decided to give acupuncture a go. A few sessions provided some short-term pain relief. It was my first time doing this, so I didn’t know what to expect, but my therapist was great. It’s a lovely, well-kept and professional clinic. They were the only ones to ring me back after I’d made the inquiry and I’m happy with my decision. Sessions are about 40 minutes each. It was excellent.
