Very welcoming, kind, listened, took on board everything I had to say and gave me the best adviceKN, Ireland, 27 03 20

I attended Brian for 10 sessions. I was at a place in my life where I needed to talk to someone who could give me non-judgemental advise and coach me on how to deal with issues that I was faced with. Before I rang to make the first appointment I read through the reviews because I wanted to speak to somebody that was good and not waste my time. All the reviews were spot on. Brian was exactly the person everyone had said he was. Very welcoming, kind, listened, took on board everything I had to say and gave me the best advice but not only that he opened my eyes to a lot of things. I’ll be forever great full to Brian as his help really changed my life around. I would highly recommend him.

Couples Therapy €90 - €120
What is Marriage & Relationship Counselling?Relationships can run into difficulties from time to time resulting in conflict, lack of communication and disappointment. Normal life stage events such as the birth of a new baby, redundancy, retirement, a change in work/life balance or children leaving home can also present couples with the challenge of renegotiating their expectations of themselves and each other. Counselling can teach you some valuable ways to improve and enhance communication skills and to work through difficult emotions to achieve clarity, understanding and connection. Elmwood Centre offers relationship counselling in a safe and comfortable environment to co-habiting, married and same sex couples. We provide the space for couples to talk, listen and be heard. By working with a counsellor who possesses empathy and professional expertise, couples feel supported while working through the challenges in their intimate relationship. While being aware of the uniqueness of each individual, we also have the skills and experience to hear both sides of the story in complete confidence, without judgement and without taking sides. The relationship you wish to explore may be past, present or in the future, and we invite you, alone or with your partner, to avail of the opportunity to explore, understand and transform your relationships.
Individual Psychotherapy €90 - €120
Personal therapy is a way in which an individual can address any issue in their lives that is causing them distress. Each person, in their own unique way, has the potential to overcome their present difficulties. Working regularly with a trained therapist in a safe and non judgmental environment can provide a setting in which someone  can engage constructively with their struggle and discover a more creative way of living with less emotional baggage to hold them back.
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy €70 - €90
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been the most widely researched therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that involves addressing a person’s problematic thinking styles and behaviors. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behaviour) all interact together. Specifically, our thoughts determine our feelings and our behavior. Therefore, negative thoughts can cause us distress and result in problems. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps people to develop alternative viewpoints in order to tackle their problems. Developing alternative viewpoints is the cornerstone of the CBT principle that there is always more than one way of seeing things and therefore a person chooses their own viewpoint. This type of therapy has been found to be helpful in: AnxietyPanic attackDepressionAcrophobia and other phobiasSocial phobiasBulimiaObsessive compulsive disorderPost traumatic stress disorderStressRelationship problems When we change the way we think for the better, this in turn, contributes to how we view and react to situations around us. It also helps to bring new clarity of thought to help make better decisions for ourselves and others.

Very much needed and appreciatedHannah, Ireland, 11 05 20

We attend Caroline Goldsmith with our son - who was described with Autism and ADHD and we were referred to Caroline via his School. We find Caroline brilliant with him and his needs and after our session we find that he is more relaxed (if something is bothering him), able to comprehend what is bothering him and can usually draw a line under the problem. In addition to this Caroline has advised us, his parents on techniques and strategies to assist him in day to day life. With the ongoing Coronavirus we were worried with the lock-down that our sessions would be stopped but Caroline still maintained her sessions with him via WhatsApp Video which was very much needed and appreciated.
