Biography:

For many years I have worked directly with individuals and families in crisis and I am privileged to have been part of a team that has enabled people to achieve a better quality of life for themselves and better outcomes for their families. Anyone working in the area of mental health should recognise that each client brings with them issues that are unique and that potentially there is learning for the therapist in every session. For myself, this learning has been crucial and has enhanced my current practice in a way that no academic learning ever could.

Of course academic learning also has it’s place and I hold a B.A. (Hons) Applied Psychology Degree from University College Cork and a Diploma in the Psychology of Adolescent Development also from University College Cork. I also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Queens University, Belfast. I am a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Getting away from therapy and achieving a balance in life is important. I am a husband and dad to two teenagers. I tend to veer towards active sports such as mountain walking and scuba diving. I am a CMAS Level 2 Diving Instructor and I have climbed many peaks in Europe and the Himalayas.
