Dr Andreas Schenk qualified as a medical doctor in 1992 and as a specialist psychiatrist in 2000. In 2007 he was appointed as Staff Consultant Psychiatrist at the Priory Hospital Southampton. Prior to this he held a substantive post as Consultant in general psychiatry with the Dorset Health Care Trust and in April 2013 he established practice as a Psychiatric Consultant at the Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital. He is section 12 approved as a medically qualified doctor who has been recognised as having specific expertise in mental disorder under section 12(2) of the Mental Health 1983.  He is also registered as an Approved Clinician within the meaning of the Act.  Dr Schenk  has over 16 years extensive and diverse experience working as   a consultant psychiatrist in a variety of settings within the UK and abroad. He has been appointed to lead both inpatient and community teams.  He has enjoyed lecturing and examining psychiatric trainees. Particular areas of interest and expertise include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Personality Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Mood Disorders, Psychosomatic Disorders and Eating Disorders. He maintains busy full time practices in Dorset and Hampshire and is always enthusiastic to take on new clients.  Dedicated to a more holistic approach to treatment and prevention of psychiatric conditions, Dr Schenk is a Founding Member of the European Society for Lifestyle Medicine.
