I had a knee arthroscopy carried out at the London Knee Clinic. The Consultant Surgeon, Glyn Evans, was very helpful, experienced and competent. All the medical staff were very professional and I was in really good hands throughout. I would highly recommend the London Knee Clinic based on my experience.

Orthopaedist Consultation
Consultations for new patients generally take 30 or 40 minutes and will often involve a gait analysis, discussion and examination, and where appropriate review of x-rays and MRI scans and recommendations for treatment.
Knee Replacement
The term knee replacement is much less than it sounds. There are various types of knee replacement but most of them involve a resurfacing procedure in which a skim of bone is removed from the upper part of the shin bone (tibia) and lower part of the thigh bone (femur). The surface is then replaced using a metal on plastic bearing.

The cost was very reasonable and the outlook positiveRichard, UK, 23 01 18

Shoulder arthroscopy. Rotator cuff repair. Subacromial Decompression. I suffered from shoulder pain for many years, which was becoming more debilitating. As living on the Isle of Wight chose to consult Mr. Gheorghiu at The Mottistone Unit. The consultation was carried out within a convenient time frame and allowed me to make a well-informed decision. The Operation was carried out a fortnight later, with an overnight stay. After surgery, I had some discomfort for about 5 days. Pleased to say, that six weeks later my original pains have gone and recovery is going well. The cost was very reasonable and the outlook positive. I will be re-contacting Mr. Gheorghiu to look at my other shoulder, which is getting worse Convenient to my location. My consultant, anesthetist and the nursing staff were excellent. The food was also nice.

Advance Orthopaedic Care - Orthopaedic Clinic in the UK

Advance Orthopaedic Care

Advance Orthopaedic Care specialises in providing expert orthopaedic care to patients of all ages. We offer the very latest techniques to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions affecting the lower limbs including arthritis, sports injuries and fractures. Located at Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex, Advance Orthopaedic Care boasts state-of-the-art facilities and its friendly staff are dedicated to providing patients with a comfortable, caring environment. Specialist orthopaedic surgeon Mr Nirav Shah is an expert in his field and his passion for orthopaedics is reflected in his clinical results and on-going research. He aims to offer patients the highest levels of care, and has years of experience providing treatments including joint replacement, arthroscopy, lower limb reconstruction and complex revision surgery.
Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy, which is also known as keyhole surgery, is one of the most frequently performed orthopaedic procedures in the UK. It involves inserting a thin fibre optic scope through a small incision in order to see inside the joint, allowing diagnosis and treatment of arthritic joints without the need for invasive surgery. The benefits of arthroscopy over more invasive procedures include less swelling and discomfort, less scar tissue and a shorter recovery period. Mr Shah specialises in hip and knee arthroscopy and is the only orthopaedic surgeon in the Western Sussex Trust to perform arthroscopy on the hip. A wide range of conditions can be treated through arthroscopy including early arthritis, sports injuries and soft tissue injuries.

Knee Replacement
Knee replacement surgery, also known as arthroplasty, involves replacing the damaged or arthritic knee with an artificial prosthesis. Commonly the knee is damaged from arthritis, resulting in pain and restricted movement. Sufferers may also experience swelling or loosening of the knee joint. A knee replacement aims to treat these symptoms, restoring the knee to its original functionality and relieving any associated pain. The knee joint consists of three bones- the femur (thigh bone), tibia (shinbone) and patella (kneecap). The femur and tibia are connected by tendons and their movement cushioned by cartilage. The patella protects the joint and moves up and down as the leg bends and straightens. Depending on the area of damage patients may require a total knee replacement or a partial knee replacement. A total knee replacement involves replacing both the tibia and femur with an artificial joint and in some cases resurfacing the patella as well. There are two types of partial knee replacement- patellofemoral and medial compartment. A patellofemoral knee replacement involves replacing the damaged knee cap and its surrounding cartilage. More commonly a medial compartment knee replacement is required, replacing only the inside part of the knee. One important benefit of a partial replacement is that it leaves the healthy bone and tissues intact, resulting in a faster recovery time and fewer complications. The disadvantages include a higher risk of revision surgery and sometimes the functionality is not as good as with a total knee replacement. Sometimes where there is damage to only part of the knee an alternative treatment is partial knee resurfacing. This involves resurfacing the damaged part of the joint with metal, leaving the healthy bone and surrounding soft tissues intact.

Manchester Arm Clinic - Adam Watts

Manchester Arm Clinic

My experience was very pleasant and reassuringAnonymous, Liverpool, 15 03 17

I have a problematic right elbow like tendinitis. I browsed through the private Clinics chose Manchester arm clinic. I phoned up and an appointment was made to see a Professor Watts in 2 days. At my appointment I was eager to have a more substantial repeat Cortisone injection. Iv had 2 previous, the first had good results lasting 23 months the second which at the time I thought was an inferior injection faded after 6 months. Time for a change - at my appointment I found Professor Watts a pleasure to communicate with. I was informed of the risks of repeat Cortisone injections and offered other types of treatment. I refused Physiopherapy which Iv previously had so Professor Watts guided me towards [Name redacted] [Treatment name removed] therapy. Far less risk of developing secondary problems like ruptured tendons, ligament damage. At this pleasant appointment Professor Watts advised I have an MRI scan of the arm before proceeding further. This was arranged for the following day and by the end of the week if the finding dictate a [Name redacted] injection is appropriate, I'll of had this injection done. My experience at Manchester arm and shoulder hospital was very pleasant and reassuring. Very Good
