Air Abrasion
A fine stream of granular particles is fired at great speed at the tooth to remove early decay out of the fine grooves, fissures and pits on the top surfaces of the teeth. For early decay, no local anaesthesia (injections) will be required. For deeper decay, local is necessary.

Dental Bridges
A bridge is usually used where there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth. : Bridges are usually made of a precious metal base. If the bridge will show, porcelain is then bonded to the base. Sometimes, there are other non-precious metals used in the base to reduce the cost

Dental Crowns
When teeth are badly decayed or heavily filled, a crown may be required to restore lost tooth tissue or protect what remains. Root-filled teeth are weakened due to the root filling and over time become more brittle. They will often require crowning to protect the tooth from fracturing. There are many types of crown and many different qualities of metal and porcelain. The substructure of these crowns is of a dark precious metal with porcelain bonded to the metal. This type of crown is used where the crowns are subject to heavy biting forces and porcelain by itself would not be stong enough. Their downside though is that they do tend to show as they are not the best aesthetically; a dark line around the gum line which aesthetically is not the the best thing. They also do not relect the light as well as All Porcelain Crowns, and can appear yellow and flase. Gold crowns are not as popular as they once were due to the aesthetics, although some people love them and even want them on their front teeth. These have fantastic properties. They reflect light in such a way that they do not appear as "false teeth" but look real and alive. They contain no dark metal so there is no chance of a dark line appearing around the neck of the crown.

Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium metal rod which is placed into the jawbone. It is used to support one or more false teeth. In practice, both the false teeth and their supporting rod are known as ‘implants’. Implants are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment. 90 per cent of modern implants last for at least 15 years. Placing the implants requires a small operation. This can be carried out under local anaesthetic with sedation or with a general anaesthetic. You will not feel any pain at the time, but you may feel some discomfort during the week following the surgery. This is usually due to having stitches in place, and the normal healing process.

Dentures
Dentures can be simple acrylic or quite complicated metal dentures with tooth coloured or gold clasps. Dentures can be construced that are attached to the teeth, either side of the gap by attachments on the denture that slot into either crowns or inlays on the teeth either side of the gap. These are precision attached dentures. Full dentures can be made which have life like teeth and gum work, which make them appear very natural. For additional retention suction cups can be used in the dentures. Dentures have their limitations, but they can provide good aesthetics and function in a relatively cheap way. They can affect the taste (particularly if the palate is fully covered) and some patients complain of a metallic taste with metal dentures. If not properly constructed, partial dentures in particular can cause the gums to strip back off the teeth and can lead to decay on the remaining teeth. Oral hygiene must e good and regular inspections are recommended

Fillings
Cosmetic fillings can be used instead of unsightly amalgam fillings, for a more beautiful smile. For larger restorations, we recommend the use of procelain inlays.

Periodontitis Treatment
The causative factor of periodontal disease is the dental plaque. Therefore its treatment is focused on the removal of plaque and tartar (calculus) by careful scaling of the root surfaces. This is managed basically by non-surgical treatment, which is concluded in 3-4 appointments and under local anesthesia. In advanced cases, there might be a need for periodontal surgery in order to have better access for cleaning the root surfaces and creating better anatomy of the bone and the gums. The same kind of local anesthesia is used and in the majority of the cases the patients don’t complain for any discomfort whatsoever. They can go to work and follow their usual habits. For very nervous patients, sedation is offered. During the treatment the patients learn exactly what periodontal disease is and why they suffer from this disease. One very important aspect of the treatment is that they learn how to perform careful home care, which will prevent further problems with their teeth and gums.

Tooth Jewellery
Some people are into the latest trends and fads. Small gold semi-permanent jewels called twinkles can be bonded onto the teeth. You may wish to have a more permanent solution to satisfy your trend or wishes. Porcelain and gold crowns with diamond inlays are frequently asked for. Working in tandom with our technicians we have found a new cosmetic solution. Before the diamonds tended to dull in the firing process, now using a newly developed technique to manufacture the crowns this is no longer the case.

Veneers
These are thin shells of porcelain, which are bonded onto the front of the teeth. A bit like a false fingernail. The teeth are usually lightly prepared (ie; a small amount is taken off the front surface and off the length to accommodate the new porcelain of the veneer. Veneers are used to cover unsightly stained fillings, stained teeth, crooked teeth, mis-shaped teeth. They are a very conservative means of making a smile beautiful. Veneers can take away the need for orthodontic (braces) treatment, for patients who do not want the lengthy treatment time or unsightly nature of braces. By placing veneers on your front teeth, quite crooked and mis-shaped teeth can be made to look beautiful and even.

Lip Augmentation
This is a very popular treatment. The aim is to produce a more pouting, fuller, defined, sensual mouth. [Treatment name removed] is injected into the lip line to make the mouth more defined, and the body of the lip is'plumped up' to make it fuller and more appealing. This whole procedure is best carried out under local anaesthetic as it can be a bit painful, as the lips are highly sensitive. Treatment for lines and wrinkles is relatively painless, and is nothing more than a series of pin pricks
