For example using orthodontics, spaces can be opened for implants, teeth can be moved to better positions, & any resultant treatment is therefore more stable and comfortable. One of Ian's particular interests is the provision of an orthopaedic approach to his orthodontic treatment, trying where possible to avoid extracting healthy teeth, and instead developing the jaws to accomodate the teeth nature intended. He has a particular interest in treating Skeletal Class 3 cases without the need for surgery, and has had many successful instances of this type of treatment. So if you have been told surgery is your only option, that may not be the case, and the younger this type of treatment is started, the better the outcome.
