4.3 50 Dental Bridges • Paid: €1500

Ext, Temp Plate fitted. Bridgework

I had some Bridgework done with Neasa. A lot of appointments as I had to have a temp plate fitted while the gum healed. I must say Neasa is lovely, gentle and kind. This is the type of dentist even the most nervous person would trust. I was delighted with the results. She gave me back my smile and it was worth every penny.

5 50 Hygienist Session • Paid: €50

Have been going here for a good few years. Always find them lovely. The staff have all been there, so they know me at this stage. I would normally see Claire, but just saw the hygienist, Sarah, this time. She was lovely. Great service and value.

Dental Bridges

Where spaces are present and a patient wishes to restore the dentition for either functional or aesthetic reasons, fixed bridgework can be considered. This involves attaching laboratory fabricated bridges (artificial teeth) to the teeth adjacent to the space being restored. Bridges are fixed in place, very durable and have the appearance of natural teeth.

Dental Checkup

Regular check ups and professional cleaning are essential to protect the health of your teeth and gums. At your dental consultation your teeth, gums and mouth will be carefully examined to ensure you are in good oral health. After the examination we will discuss with you any requirements you may have and offer advice on how to protect your teeth. Depending on the condition of your teeth and your previous dental treatments your dentist will usually recommend a dental check up at least once a year.

from €500

Dental Crowns

On occasion a tooth may have significant damage which can not be repaired using a filling. As we recommend retaining the natural tooth where possible a patient can consider the option of crowning a tooth. This involves placing a crown over the damaged tooth. There are many different types of crowns and at Reva Dental in Kilkenny our preference is to recommended either all porcelain crowns or porcelain bonded to white gold crowns. This is consistent with our philosophy of using only the highest quality materials to ensure the best and longest lasting result. All crowns look like natural teeth once complete and are matched to your own dentition.

If a tooth has been previously root treated it is often necessary to increase the strength of the tooth by placing a fitting called a ‘post and core’ in the tooth. These posts improve the strength and durability of the restored tooth. It is our policy to use laboratory fabricated white gold posts for the best clinical results.

Our dentists will be happy to discuss all of your options with you and provide a written quote before any treatment is carried out.

Dentures are removable appliances that enable people who are missing teeth to eat the foods they desire, talk naturally and smile with confidence.

Dentures can be used to both replace all the natural teeth where there is total loss and to fill gaps where there is partial loss.

Our dentists will be happy to discuss all of your options with you and provide a written quote before any treatment is carried out.

Fillings

With significant advances in dental materials many fillings are now completed with white composite restorations. Composite restorations can be used to repair worn or fractured front teeth by matching the tooth tissue colour to various white filling materials.

Why should I consider white fillings?

White fillings are very natural looking, as well as doing the job they’re meant to do. While they have traditionally been considered less long lasting than silver amalgam fillings, advances in materials now mean that white fillings are virtually as durable as silver amalgam.

Is it worth replacing my amalgam fillings with white ones?

It is generally best to change fillings only when your dentist decides that an old filling needs replacing. When this happens you can ask to have it replaced with a tooth-coloured filling.

What are tooth-coloured fillings made of?

Composite fillings
Made from powdered glass, quartz, silica or other ceramic particles added to a resin base. Your dentist will choose a shade to match your own teeth. After the tooth is prepared, the filling is bonded onto the area with an adhesive and a light shone onto it to set it. With this type of filling, the dentist may have to remove less of the tooth, which is obviously better.
Glass Ionomer
Glass Ionomer fillings form a chemical bond with the tooth. They may also release fluoride, which helps prevent further tooth decay. This type of filling is relatively weak and is usually used on non-biting surfaces, such as around the neck of the tooth.
Porcelain inlays
Our laboratory can now use computer technology to design and prepare perfectly fitted porcelain inlays. Porcelain tends to be very hard wearing and long lasting, and it can be precisely coloured to match your own teeth. This type of filling is significantly more expensive than the standard white filling. Your dentist will explain all of your options before any treatment commences.<

Root canals

At Reva Dental in Kilkenny City our aim is to assist patients in retaining the natural dentition whenever possible and a very useful treatment for retaining badly broken down or symptomatic teeth is root canal treatment.

Root canal treatment is a procedure to remove the pulp (nerve) when it is either inflamed, dead or infected. The pulp extends along small canals inside the tooth. The pulp of a tooth can become damaged due to dental decay, trauma, fractures or leaking crowns and fillings. Where the damaged or dead pulp is not removed, it will often become infected and may result in a dental abscess. Root canal treatment is a pain free procedure and while there may be occasional post-operative symptoms from this treatment the vast majority of cases resolve without post-operative pain.

Following root treatment it might be necessary to crown a tooth but this would be discussed before any treatment would commence.

1. How white will my teeth go at the end of the treatment?

This depends on a number of factors and results will vary between patients. Generally speaking, we will get your teeth to as white as they were when you were a teenager (sometimes whiter). Our system will get your teeth to as white as they will naturally go. We expect an improvement of 3-4 shades from any treatment. We take an initial shade of your teeth to show the difference at the end of treatment.

 2. How soon will I see results?

Some people get the result they want after 1 session, while most peopl
