What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells, also called dental laminates, that are used to cover unsightly teeth and give patients attractive smiles. They are easy to place and can quickly improve the smile of patients with dental cracks and stains, and for patients who have gaps between their teeth.

What is the difference between Veneers and Dental Crowns?

Veneers cover only the front portion of teeth. Crowns cover or replace the entire tooth. Crowns are therefore thicker than veneers. A major portion of the tooth needs to be reduced before placing a crown while only a small portion of the tooth needs to be reduced before placing a veneer. A crown is used for covering damaged teeth and is also placed over a dental implant. A veneer is only used for cosmetic purposes.

What are the best types of Veneers?

The best type of veneer depends on the needs of each individual patient. Some veneers can be easily placed without much tooth preparation. Some veneers are suitable for severely damaged teeth. Some veneers can be easily made in the clinic and patients do not have to wait long for their placement. Some veneers are cheaper than others and are suitable for patients looking for a low cost option.  Your dentist should discuss the options with you so you can make the best choice.

How long before you can eat after getting Veneers?

Dentists recommend that patients eat only soft foods after veneers are placed, and for the first few days, until they get used to them. Veneers are normally bonded firmly to teeth and patients can eat any type of food.

What are Veneers made from?

Veneers are made from ceramic, composite resins or zirconium.

All of the staff were truly amazingMary, Ireland, 27 04 18

I had to have a tooth out, and being petrified of dentists and work being done was an absolute mess going in. All of the staff were truly amazing. Dr. Ciara was so reassuring and kind. She explained everything and was so gentle and put all my anxieties to rest. The tooth was out in no time at all, and can honestly say, I will never be frightened to go in again! The staff at Flynns Dental are second to none. Many thanks for the work you do! The clinic is immaculate and does not feel (or smell) like a typical dentists office. I chose Flynns because I saw they had won different awards, and I can now see why they won these. They are a fantastic group!

The results are excellentPeter, Ireland, 20 01 17

This is no ordinary Dentist Clinic, it is warm and welcoming. It was my first visit. Avril, the Dentist, her assuring Assistant and reception team are advanced in their approach to the Client.I don't like injections or drill equipment, Avril takes that extra care talking through each process which is refreshing.I felt no need to tense up during the injection, filing and cleaning works. The results are excellent. Thank you Peter Curran

Now I can continue my vacation pain-freeRebecca, Ireland, 14 06 19

Dr David Fuller took excellent care of my cracked tooth, mending it, taking away the severe pain I was in. I will still have to get to my dentist in the US after vacation, but now I can continue my vacation pain-free. The service was very reasonable, probably less than what I would have had to pay in the US. I found him to be very kind and gentle. I highly recommend. If I lived local, I would definitely be seeing him for all dental work.
