I've been to Dr Niall McCarthy's Dental practice many a time over the past number of years. One thing that stands out, is the professionalism, the staff are warm and caring always eager to help and chatty too, which puts your mind at ease, I've had many treatments and fillings and extractions, due to medicine and wear and tear on my teeth, I think of all the dental surgeons ive been with over the years, there is none other than Niall Mc Carthy which I put my complete trust and faith in, he is a miracle worker for sure, and has done some amazing work on my teeth, I've had small, medium, large fillings, and even some extractions, he even went the whole mile and rebuilt some teeth for me, which I didnt even know was possible, that man and his staff are gifted and ooze talent, so anyone reading this review, if your are looking or needing dental treatment, look no further, and to be honest the dental practice price list is good value too, you wont get the same value and expertize anywhere else for that sort of payment, I highly recommend Dr Niall Mc Carthy and his practice to anyone, anyone that knows me well, its the god honest truth.

I got a root canal done today at the Limerick clinic, and the professionalism was evident from the moment I walked in the door. I was very nervous, but Fida provided reassurance and comfort the entire time. The whole experience was completely painless. Fida, the orthodontist, communicated with me throughout the procedure. Root canal treatment is the preferred way to treat an infection in the nerve center of the tooth, known as the pulp. The pulp is the soft, inner core of the tooth that consists of blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. When the pulp is diseased or injured and cant repair itself, it dies. The most common cause of pulp death is a cracked tooth or a deep cavity. Both of these problems can let bacteria enter the pulp. Bacteria can cause an infection inside the tooth. Left without treatment, pus builds up at the root tip, in the jawbone, forming a "pus-pocket" called an abscess. Usually pain and swelling will result. Without treatment, your tooth may have to be removed. The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure. Most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits to your dentist. At the first appointment, the infected pulp is removed. The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling using thin files (as seen in the first x-ray). A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled. About 90 percent of root canals are successful and the pain does not return. However, sometimes a root canal needs to be redone or the tooth extracted.
