What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

I am now able to smile without embarrassmentRaymond, Cambodia, 20 08 25

My story, read horror story, began more than 30 years ago in Scotland, where an unattended dentist let his high-speed drill slip from his hands and forgot to take his foot of the pedal. After nearly drowning in my on blood due to a severed sublingual artery, which required 6 stitches to stop the bleeding, my faith in Scottish dentistry was dead. Ten years later, any confidence in dentists that faintly remained vanished in a sea of pain in a Norwegian clinic I Osl, Norway. That dentist neglected to take an X-ray. And subsequently tried to rip out a tooth that was virtually impossible to remove. Fracturing my jaw during the process. To say that I had then become dentophobic is simply an understatement. After 20 years or more of suffering numerous infections and even being hospitalised because of septicemia, I decided that I would search the web and find a clinic with both satisfactory reviews and very reasonable prices. After months of searching, I found Stunning Dental Clinic in Siem Reap, Cambodia. My treatment finished today, 20th Aug 2025. And for the first time in more than 20 years. I am now able to smile without embarrassment. Talk articulately and feel that my number one health problem is gone. I will not mention prices except to say they were at least a quarter of what I would have paid in Norway. What I really want to express is my absolute gratitude to this clinic for both their kindness, empathy and professionalism during all aspects of my treatment. I simply cannot thank them enough. Attention to detail is my philosophy. Those dentists and technicians there live by this philosophy. Their professionalism, technical and emotional intelligence just shattered any myths about the superiority of Western dental clinics. You just have to meet these guys and girls. When I first looked into the eyes of their main dentist and had a discussion about my treatment plan. I promise you I felt absolute confidence in him. I think his name is Darith. But no matter. I consider him as the greatest dentist who ever treated me. And I truly wish him all the success that his professionalism deserves. Hats off to Stunning Dental Clinic. It is everything a dental clinic should be. And don't forget the money they saved me paid for my flights, hotel, spending money, souvenirs and holiday in all it's month-long totality. I would gladly come back here just to thank them one more time.🙏Ankor

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A typical bridge consists of two crowns (one on each side of the gap created by missing tooth/teeth) and a false tooth/teeth (that fill in the gap and is attached to the crowns). These two crowned ‘anchoring teeth’ are called abutment teeth .These supporting teeth can be natural teeth or dental implants. The false tooth/teeth in between the anchoring teeth are called pontics. Bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. What are the benefits of dental bridges?BridgesRestore your smile Restore your ability to properly chew and speak Maintain the shape of your face Distribute the forces in your bite properly by replacing missing teeth Prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position What types of dental bridges are available? There are three main types of bridges: Traditional fixed bridges consist of two or more crowns and a filler tooth/teeth. The filler tooth/teeth are attached to one or more crowns. The crowns keep the bridge in place. Traditional bridges are the most common type of bridge and are made of either porcelain fused to metal or ceramics. Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth (there are no teeth next to the other side of the missing tooth/teeth. Maryland bonded bridges (also called a resin-bonded bridge or a Maryland bridge) are made of porcelain fused to metal teeth supported by a metal framework. Metal wings on each side of the bridge are bonded to your existing teeth. This type of bridge is commonly used to replace front teeth. What are the steps for creating a dental bridge?During the first visit, the abutment teeth are prepared. This involves re-shaping these te
