"Highly skilled and personable"
100%Reviewed 17 Dec 2015 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Root Canals, Fillings, Dental Crowns
I have been here twice in the last year. Dr. Maria Tishkova is absolutely fabulous; highly skilled and personable. She has done three root canals for me (I'm usually really scared of dentists, so neglect going), seven or eight fillings and two crowns. She is inexpensive and you can trust her implicitly. I am telling my friends that they should visit Siem Reap, see Angkor Wat (a marvel of a an area), and get your dental work done. I now teach and live in Siem Reap and Dr Maria is my dentist.

I chose the clinic with much hesitation. I'm an American and worry about dental competence in other countries. But I'm a teacher now in Siem Reap, so I needed to see a dentist. My first impression was that the outside (street noisy and crowded, outside of building needed painting and a new sign) was not impressive, but inside it was spotless, the equipment new, the staff welcoming, and I soon relaxed. Especially, I was completely reassured by Dr Maria's attitude, speed of her services, and no-nonsense approach to my treatment. She's really good.

"I recommend her completely"
100%Reviewed 06 May 2015 Review verified by phone.
Treatment Received: Extractions, Root Canals, Fillings
3 extractions, 3 root canals, 6 fillings

I have been very scared of dentists since I was a little kid, so I went to IDC with trepidation. But I was treated with great kindness and superb competency.
Dr Maria Tishkova is extremely well-trained, decisive, and accomplishes a lot in short time. I recommend her completely. I had several extractions, three root canals, and a number of fillings. The total cost was approximately $600 USD.
I'm planning to return to Siem Reap in several months from the US and will continue to see Dr Maria.
I might suggest planning a vacation to visit Angkor Wat and get your dental work done while you're there.

Bone Graft

is a surgical procedure that replaces missing in order to repair that are extremely complex, pose a significant health risk to the patient, or fail to heal properly.

Bone generally has the ability to regenerate completely but requires a very small fracture space or some sort of scaffold to do so. Bone grafts may be autologous (bone harvested from the patient’s own body, often from the ), allograft (cadaveric bone usually obtained from a bone bank), or synthetic (often made of or other naturally occurring and substances) with similar mechanical properties to bone. Most bone grafts are expected to be reabsorbed and replaced as the natural bone heals over a few months’ time.

The principles involved in successful bone grafts include osteoconduction (guiding the reparative growth of the natural bone), osteoinduction (encouraging undifferentiated cells to become active osteoblasts), and osteogenesis (living bone cells in the graft material contribute to bone remodeling). Osteogenesis only occurs with autografts.

Cosmetic Dentist Consultation

Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the function) of a person's teeth, gums and/or bite. Many dentists refer to themselves as "cosmetic dentists" regardless of their specific education, specialty, training, and experience in this field. This has been considered unethical with a predominant objective of marketing to patients. The does not recognize cosmetic dentistry as a formal specialty area of dentistry. However, there are still dentists that promote themselves as cosmetic dentists.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a cosmetic and restorative treatment in which a tooth-colored composite solution is applied to a tooth to mask aesthetic flaws or fill small cavities. The malleable material is directly placed on the dental flaw to conceal its appearance; the composite resin is shaped over the tooth to hide imperfections and produce a natural appearance, and then hardened during a single dental appointment.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

A typical bridge consists of two crowns (one on each side of the gap created by missing tooth/teeth) and a false tooth/teeth (that fill in the gap and is attached to the crowns). These two crowned ‘anchoring teeth’ are called abutment teeth .These supporting teeth can be natural teeth or dental implants. The false tooth/teeth in between the anchoring teeth are called pontics. Bridges can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials.

What are the benefits of dental bridges?Bridges
  • Restore your smile
  • Restore your ability to properly chew and speak
  • Maintain the shape of your face
  • Distribute the forces in your bite properly by replacing missing teeth
  • Prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position
What types of dental bridges are available?

There are three main types of bridges:

  • Traditional fixed bridges consist of two or more crowns and a filler tooth/teeth. The filler tooth/teeth are attached to one or more crowns. The crowns keep the bridge in place. Traditional bridges are the most common type of bridge and are made of either porcelain fused to metal or ceramics.
  • Cantilever bridges are used when there are teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth (there are no teeth next to the other side of the missing tooth/teeth.
  • Maryland bonded bridges (also called a resin-bonded bridge or a Maryland bridge) are made of porcelain fused to metal teeth supported by a metal framework. Metal wings on each side of the bridge are bonded to your existing teeth. This type of bridge is commonly used to replace front teeth.
What are the steps for creating a dental bridge?

During the first visit, the abutment teeth are prepared. This involves re-shaping these te
