The Weekend Facelift (also called the mini facelift and the S-lift) is designed to have minimal downtime and less cost. The Weekend Facelift will treat early laxity in the corner of the mouth and jowl area that is too advanced to be treated simply by a mid facelift (cheek lift) procedure alone. It differs from a full facelift in that it does not treat laxity in the neck or the lateral temporal area, but only laxity in the jowl. With a Weekend Facelift, the incisions are hidden in the skin creases and patients are able to resume their normal activity within several days after surgery. For people with early aging changes and an active lifestyle, this procedure can be extremely beneficial. Performed under local anesthesia, the Weekend Facelift takes only about four days from pre-op to recovery. Plus, we use a tumescent solution that results in less bruising and faster recovery. It can also be combined with a mid facelift or forehead lift for maximum rejuvenation and minimal downtime.

If a facelift is required, I will typically perform a deep-plane facelift (also called a high-SMAS facelift). In certain cases, a mini-facelift is appropriate. The deep-plane facelift I perform is a more technical and advanced facelift procedure and it produces the best and longest-lasting results. It does take just a little longer to perform, but I find that the results and my patients are well worth the extra effort and time. The deep plane facelift is well-known for delivering very natural-looking results because it involves release, repositioning, and tightening of the 'muscle layer.' Working at this level allows the skin and muscle layer to be repositioned in a tension- free manner. This is a very important point to consider. Other techniques rely on stretching the muscle layer – often in an unnatural direction –and applying excessive tension during skin closure. This can result in a pulled, unnatural appearance with the eventual migration of scars that become noticeable as the skin and muscle layer spring back.

To value how facial fillers rejuvenate the face, a little knowledge of the facial aging process is helpful. The face begins to show the signs of aging most notably by the loss of facial volume. This loss of volume in the face is similar to a balloon that loses air. That is, as air or volume is lost, the balloon becomes lax, sags, and wrinkles. Unfortunately, a similar process occurs in our faces.
