Gastric Sleeve (GS)  commonly referred to as the “sleeve”, is the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy of the stomach which is performed by removing about 80% of the stomach volume. Although what has left of the stomach — usually the size of a banana — retains its digestive abilities, the capacity for food intake is reduced. By taking out the portion of the stomach responsible for producing most of the hunger hormone, the feeling of hunger is decreased. Hence, the surgery affects the body’s metabolism. Ideal for patients with a BMI of 30 or more. Recovery period generally 1-2 weeks.

A stomach balloon is an non-surgical method of treating obesity. The treatment involves introducing a balloon into the stomach and filling it with liquid. This means that the patient after the operation consumes less food. By pressing the walls of the stomach, the balloon reduces the patient’s feeling of hunger. The main result after bariatric surgery is significant weight loss. It is associated with excess flaccid skin in different parts of the body - arms, drooping breasts, abdominal, thighs. The surgical correction of this excess skin can complete the process oflosing weight and bring the final satisfaction from new body. The operation consists in liposuction to remove the rest of the excess fat and then surgical removal of the skin from typical incisions. The surgery is connected with visible scars.

The procedur is recommended for people suffering from severe obesity and those suffering from chronic diseases (e.g. hypertension). The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. The effectiveness of the procedure is very high and guarantees spectacular effects. Sleeve gastrectomy is also accompanied by the disappearance of other diseases related to the development of excess weight and obesity. During the surgery about 2/3 of the stomach is resected, causing an irreversible reduction of its volume, shortening of the digestion process and radical decrease of hunger. Why? During the surgery, usually laparoscopic, a part of stomach in which ghrelin is secreted is resected.  After the surgery the patient remains at the in-hospital observation and usually returns to the normal physical activity after a few weeks. The method is not of a definitive character – in case of a failure it is possible to perform an additional procedure (RYGB).

Incredibly effective bariatic surgery. The procedure is particularly recommended to people suffering from advanced obesity – those affected with type-2 diabetes and to whom traditional methods of weight loss proved to be ineffective. Gastric bypass implantation is a guarantee of excess weight reduction – even up to 85%. The effectiveness of this method is based on the reduced stomach volume – ingesting large amount of food is simply impossible. The surgery consists of creation of a small, about 50 ml in volume, pouch from the upper stomach and making anastomosis, which results in shortening of digestive process and improvement of glucose metabolism (treatment of diabetes). The method is perfect when other weight loss plans are not effective.  It is especially recommended to very obese people and those suffering from diabetes. The patients is hospitalised for a few days after the surgery. During the procedure a modification of the gastrointestinal tract is performed – we observe shorter digestion time.
