Acupuncture combined with herbal medicine has been used for centuries to treat the causes of infertility. A German Study conducted in 2002 used two groups of women experiencing fertility difficulties, to determine the effects of acupuncture on IVF treatments. In the first group, acupuncture treatments were carried out 25 minutes before embryo transfer and 25 minutes after the embryo was inserted into the uterus. In the second group, no acupuncture treatments were given. Study findings showed a successful pregnancy rate of 42.5% in the first group of women compared to 26.3% in the second group that had no acupuncture treatments.
