Sarah Daniel qualified at St George’s Hospital Medical School and completed her Master’s degree in Neurological Physiotherapy at Coventry University. Sarah is MOTIONrehab’s Clinical Director for Yorkshire and Humberside. She manages her continually growing team across the region. Sarah has a wealth of experience in treating a wide range of neurological conditions using hands on facilitatory techniques (including Bobath and NET) and rehabilitation technology. Sarah is an Expert Witness in her field providing Medico-Legal Reports for Solicitors and Rehabilitation Needs Reports for Case Managers and other health professionals. In addition to her clinical work, Sarah lectures nationally and internationally. She also teaches post graduate courses in Neurological Rehabilitation and Medico-Legal report writing. Jessica graduated with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy in 2006 and gained exceptional experience working for Leeds Primary Care Trust, which included adult and paediatric neurological rehabilitation and worked with learning and complex disabilities. Jessica was published in 2008 for her research into increasing activity levels in the learning disability population. Jessica has gained significant experience working in private practice treating a wide range of neurological conditions such as Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis and Spinal Cord Injuries. She uses a variety of treatment approaches to achieve patients’ goals; this includes hands-on therapy, Pilates based and functional exercise programmes and where appropriate Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for Dropped Foot (Bioness, Trulife Walkaide, OML Pace and Ottobock Mygait), Saebo and muscle stimulation for the upper and lower limb. Jessica also works as the treating Physiotherapist for a number of medico-legal clients providing therapy reports and recommendations as required. Jessica has a particular interest in Neurological Pilates completing training with APPI and Modern Pilates in 2012 and runs small-group classes to ensure exercises are individualised and corrected as appropriate. Jessica is now teaching courses nationally to other Physiotherapists on how to use Pilates with their neurological patients. Charlotte graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Teeside in 1998 and has since completed her Master’s Degree in Professional Health Studies. Charlotte is the lead physiotherapist in our York Clinic and offers home visits to York and surrounding areas. Charlotte currently treats clients with a wide range of neurological conditions in adults, however she specialises in Neurological Physiotherapy for Children with conditions such as Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, or children who have Acquired Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury. Children’s physiotherapy is unique and requires someone with patience and experience in this area. Charlotte tries to ensure physiotherapy sessions are fun, interesting and addresses the needs of each individual child and their family. Physiotherapy appointments can also be carried out in school if necessary. Charlotte feels it is important to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team where appropriate. Due to having worked locally for the NHS in the past, Charlotte has good links with the local hospital and continues to combine treatment with NHS services such as adult and children’s physiotherapy, provision and Orthotics. A variety of treatment approaches is used by Charlotte, including hands-on therapy in combination with Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for Dropped Foot (Bioness, Trulife Walkaide and OML Pace), Saebo and muscle stimulation for the upper and lower limb. This includes running the York outreach clinic for Odstock Medical at the National Centre for FES. Tom graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University and worked for over ten years in the NHS specialising in Neurology, gaining experience in Neuro Surgery, Acute Neurology, Neurological Rehabilitation and the treatment of stroke. Tom has also worked in community settings treating a variety of neurological conditions. Elena graduated with a BSc (hons) degree in Sports and Exercise Science in 2005, she then went on to complete a masters degree in Physiotherapy from Leeds Metropolitan University. Since graduating Elena has gained her experience from working in the Hull and East Yorkshire Trust. Specialising in patients with neurological pathologies including stroke, MS, brain injury, spinal injury and brain tumours. Kathryn is a Neurological Physiotherapist who graduated with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from Kings College London and has significant experience working in neurological rehabilitation. Kathyrn is driven by seeing her treatment making tangible improvements to her patients. Kathryn has worked within Barts and the London NHS Trust, Northwick Park Hospital, North West London Hospitals NHS Trust. She has worked on the Regional Rehabilitation Unit and Stroke Unit at Northwick Park Hospital and spent four years as a Specialist Physiotherapist before moving to York in 2012 to be with her family and taking up the post with MOTIONrehab. Kathryn has experience in treating a wide range of complex neurological conditions such as Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain and Spinal Injuries and Parkinson’s Disease. Katy graduated from Bradford University with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy and worked for Leeds Teaching Hospital. Katy specialised in neurological physiotherapy. Rachael qualified with a First Class Honours degree from Northumbria University. She worked at Bradford Teaching Hospitals first as a rotational therapist and then as a neurological physiotherapist. She is the Lead physiotherapist at a number of Leonard Cheshire Homes alongside her role at MOTIONrehab. She uses a variety of treatment approaches, including hands-on therapy in combination with Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for Drop Foot (Bioness, Trulife Walkaide and OML Pace), Saebo and muscle stimulation for the upper and lower limb. She provides 24 hour postural management advice and training for care teams. Rachael is also trained in acupuncture, mindfulness and paediatric exercise interventions. Eleanor qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 2004 and has thirteen years experience of providing specialist neurological physiotherapy at a senior level within the NHS and six years in the private sector. Eleanor has worked in many neuro sub specialities such as acute neurology, neurosurgery and neurotrauma, a neuro rehab unit, stroke unit, neuro out patients and the community setting including care homes. This broad experience allows her to work effectively with a wide variety of clients with complex neurological conditions. Eleanor has completed numerous post graduate neurological training courses. She has recently completed a post graduate diploma in neuro rehabilitation. She has worked extensively with clients with traumatic and acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and those with tracheostomies to achieve personal goals through a supported rehabilitation programme. Helga graduated with a Honours Degree Physiotherapy from the Egaz Moniz University in Portugal in 2005. Helga worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in Neurological Specialities including Stroke, Neuro Rehabilitation and Cerebral Palsy. She also has experience in Orthopaedics, Respiratory, Amputee rehabiliation, Musculo-skeletal and Hydrotherapy of all ages. Helga has completed courses in spinal cord injuries, dementia and cognitive issues and baby massage. She has taught courses for other health professionals regarding positioning in mechanically ventilated patients. In addition she took a lead role in development and planning of support programmes for Patients and Families with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease at Hospital of Algarve (Portugal). Helga moved to the UK, where she gained even more experience working with a specialist Neurological Nursing facility working with individuals living with long term disability. Rachel graduated from Pinderfields School of Physiotherapy in Wakefield and specialises in the field of neurological physiotherapy. She has a wealth of experience in the NHS and independent sector and has treated clients in an acute and rehabilitation setting as well as in neurological outpatients. Rachel specialises in rehabilitation following traumatic and acquired brain injuries. Rachel also has a wealth of experience treating a wide range of other complex neurological conditions such as Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, and sensory and motor ataxia. Stuart graduated with BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham in 1998. Since then he has specialised in the treatment of adult neurological conditions in a wide variety of locations from acute care to clinical and case management roles in community settings. Stuart is passionate about working together with people to reach shared outcomes that focus upon what matters most to the individual. This commitment has also seen Stuart work for local and national organisations in the development of truly person-centred approaches to healthcare.
