Mr Mark Avern

Job Title:
  Operations Manager

Lilliput Health’s Clinic Manager Mark Avern graduated with Honours from The College of St Mark and St John in 2003.

After completing his Sports Degree, Mark focussed on personal training at The Club at Meyrick Park. Quickly building a substantial and successful client base, Mark decided to diversify and studied to become a Sports Massage Therapist. On qualifying, he started Body Potential specialising in Personal Training and Sports Massage Therapy.

Over the next three years Body Potential became extremely successful and attracted some high profile clients. Mark was also invited to work with and the . After working with founder and Director of Peter Bloomer, Mark was invited to become Co-Director.

Mark’s wealth of experience and strong business acumen also led him to devise Therapy Management Systems, a practical business tool for therapists to use to build effective businesses or remedy struggling ones.

Mr Peter Bloomer

Job Title:

Peter Bloomer: Poole based Chartered Physiotherapist & Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Having qualified in 1999 Peter Bloomer spent the early part of his career working in the NHS in Birmingham, prior to moving in private practice in 2001.

He moved to Bournemouth in 2003, working at the Nuffield Hospital as their main orthopaedic rehabilitation physiotherapist, prior to becoming fully self employed in private practice and working for the British Army.

Peter has also managed a physiotherapy service at the BMI Sarum Road hospital in Winchester, prior to commencing the Lilliput Health project.

Being heavily involved in the sports world, Peter is one of the main physiotherapists to the , and English Women’s Golf Association, helping to optimise the physical potential of the country’s elite golfers. He also particularly enjoys advanced sports injury rehabilitation, and is also training to become an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach, to compliment his skills as a physiotherapist.

Mr Ruggero Calo

Job Title:

Ruggero Calo’ – Chiropodist / Podiatrist

Ruggero graduated from The University of Southampton with a BSc Honours Degree in Podiatric Medicine.

Ruggero is registered as a with the ‘Health Professions Council’ and is a member of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (SOCAP). He has worked within both the NHS and the private sector.

Professionally he has an interest in human biomechanics and the lower limb. He has attended post-graduate courses in biomechanics, including the use of sophisticated gait scan technology in diagnosis, predicting foot pathology and prevention of injury through exercise and orthotic prescription.

Ruggero understands that the human foot is an incredibly complex structure of natural engineering and that no two feet are exactly the same. For this reason, it may be advisable to have our feet routinely assessed to ensure the supporting structure of our body is working to perform at its best. With a history as an amateur athlete he understands the importance of good foot function.

Research shows that abnormalities in foot structure and function may lead to musculoskeletal problems in the body including poor posture, discomfort, pain, and deformity. Addressing foot function may reduce problems occurring to the foot, ankle and musculoskeletal system.

Miss Hannah Dacre

Hannah Dacre – Poole and Bournemouth based Physiotherapist.

Hannah graduated from the University of Southampton with an honours degree in physiotherapy in the summer of 2008.

Hannah started her working life down in Devon, completing her junior rotations at South Devon NHS Trust before moving to a senior physiotherapy position in Winchester and finally to private practise after relocating to Dorset.

Throughout her younger life, Hannah trained as an elite gymnast, representing Great Britain on a handful of occasions.  On retiring from competition in 2006, Hannah worked her way up the coaching system and discovered that helping gymnasts to improve their performance mirrored her love of helping patients achieve their goals with physiotherapy.  Training and coaching at such a high level means that Hannah has an exceptional work ethic and can show complete affinity with patients who have sustained an injury that is preventing them doing the things they enjoy the most, on both sporting and recreational level.

Hannah is passionate about continuing to develop her skills, and has completed post graduate study in acupuncture, manual therapy and numerous sports medicine courses.  She uses these skills regularly to ensure her patients have a wide selection of the best treatment options.

Dr Ben Dyer

Ben Dyer – Poole and Bournemouth based Chiropractor

Ben graduated from the Anglo European Chiropractic College with a Masters Degree in Chiropractic with Merit.

Sport has always been a large part of his life and this combined with frustrating injures lead to his interest in chiropractic and the positive benefits of maintaining a fully functioning body.

Ben has previously worked with and treated athletes of many different sports including AFC Bournemouth and a national level swim team. Ben has completed additional courses in sports chiropractic, functional treatment and rehabilitation and dry needling/acupuncture.

Outside of work Ben has a keen interest in health, fitness and nutrition and regularly participates in a variety of running and outdoor events.

Ben treats a wide range of injuries from the sports arena to those sustained in the work place and anything in between. He is a member of the British Chiropractic Association and registered with the General Chiropractic Council.

Ben is also a member of the team of musculo-skeletal therapists at Lilliput Health Bournemouth, which is based at The Club at Meyrick Park.
