Mr Srinivasan Subramaniam was among the first cohort of Doctors who sat and passed the assessment in competence in laser refractive surgery conducted by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists.  He is now an assessor for competency in laser refractive surgery.

He has performed over 20,000 cataracts and refractive procedures (including laser refractive surgery). He has now also trained in Femto-laser assisted cataract surgery.

He trains junior doctors in ophthalmology in particular cataract surgery.  He has been for over 10 years a member of the Microscopy Training Faculty of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

He has published papers in several peer review journals. In recognition of his work he has been appointed Honorary Visiting Senior Lecturer in the School of Life & Health Sciences at Aston University.

His spare time is devoted to improving vision in the developing world. He is actively involved in a charity Second Sight which performs cataract surgery in the developing countries.

He is qualified to use LENSAR™ femtosecond laser technology for cataract and Clarivu (RLE) procedures.

Mr Sai Kolli is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in cataract surgery, corneal and lens replacement, external eye.

Mr Kolli joined Optegra in 2012 as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon. He undertook his medical school training at Cambridge University where he graduated with First-Class honours. He then undertook ophthalmic surgical training in Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle and completed his specialist corneal training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He was awarded a PhD in corneal [Treatment name removed] biology and its therapeutic application in 2009. He has undertaken 3 fellowships in cornea and external eye diseases as well as a separate fellowship in refractive and cataract surgery.

On completion of his specialist training, he undertook locum consultant posts at Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road and then St George’s Hospital) prior to taking up his current Consultant position at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust based at the world renowned Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

He is responsible for providing the tertiary referral corneal service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. His main area of expertise and interest is in complex cataract surgery, refractive surgery and all aspects of corneal and external eye disease including all forms of corneal transplantation and anterior segment reconstructions. Mr Mark Wevill is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Optegra Eye Hospital Birmingham. He specialises in laser eye surgery, lens replacement, cataract surgery and raindrop corneal inlay.

Mark Wevill is a specialist eye surgeon who has done over 20 000 laser eye surgery operations. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995 and is recognised as a Specialist in ophthalmology by the UK’s General Medical Council. Mark did his first eye operation in 1991 and first corrected a patient’s vision with LASIK laser eye surgery in 1996.

He is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon holding the “Certification in Refractive Surgery” qualification from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists after undergoing assessment in surgical skills and patient management to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses (refractive surgery). Mark has also been awarded the Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery with merit from the University of Ulster. In addition to laser eye surgery he also has a special interest in cataract and intra ocular surgery having performed more than 6,000 such procedures.

Mark Wevill regularly shares his experience with his colleagues in scientific papers and presentations at national and international congresses and he has written many chapters for textbooks in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery. He is also one of the only surgeons in the UK implanting the Raindrop corneal inlay to improve reading vision.

CONSULTANT VITREORETINAL AND CATARACT SURGEON - MB BS BSc FRCOphth (London)

Mr. Glover is a graduate of University College London, where he completed his medical degree, together with an intercalated degree in medical microbiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He undertook his ophthalmic surgical training in London and Oxford, and has completed fellowships in both vitreoretinal eye surgery and medical retina. He was appointed as
an NHS consultant vitreoretinal surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust based at the world-renowned Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2008. Mr. Glover also holds an honorary consultancy at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital.

Mr. Glover is responsible for providing the tertiary referral vitreoretinal service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. To date he has performed over 10,000 procedures and takes referrals for both elective and complex cataracts and vitreoretinal retinal diseases. As part of the Vision 2020 project to eradicate preventable blindness, he participates in training surgeons both here and abroad.

CONSULTANT OPHTHALMIC SURGEON - BSc, MBChB, MRCS(Ed), FRCOphth

Mr Masood is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Optegra Eye Hospital Birmingham. As well as dealing with the full range of general ophthalmic conditions he has a special interest in the assessment, diagnosis and medical and surgical management of all forms of glaucoma. He holds the fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and has undergone training in the management of complex glaucoma at the Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Mr. Masood has a particular interest in complicated cataract surgery, cataract surgery in glaucoma patients and in microinvasive glaucoma procedures. He is a national leader in the field of microinvasive glaucoma surgery and was one of the first surgeons in the UK to use the iStent and has performed the largest series of iStent procedures in complex glaucoma patients. He was the first in the UK to use the new Hydrus stent and is currently conducting a clinical trial of this procedure.

Mr. Masood is actively involved in training and research and has published a number of scientific papers, and has also given presentations at various meetings around the world.

CONSULTANT OPHTHALMIC SURGEON - FRCS OPHTH

Mr. Mirza was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre City Hospital in June 2008. He received his specialist training in the West Midlands Ophthalmology rotation followed by two fellowships in macula & medical retinal diseases in the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre & Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary.

Mr. Mirza offers consultations on a wide range of ophthalmic conditions from cataract surgery to problems such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and other retinal vascular/inflammatory conditions. He offers treatments which include intravitreal injections and performs posterior segment argon laser, photodynamic therapy and YAG laser treatments.

Mr. Mirza is an expert in modern retinal imaging techniques such as Optical Coherence Tomography, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography and lndocyanine Angiography.

Mr. Mitra graduated from and completed basic surgical training in Ophthalmology at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital in India. He undertook higher specialist training in Ophthalmology at West Midlands School of Ophthalmology and underwent further specialist training in the management of complex vitreo-retinal disorders at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

CONSULTANT OPHTHALMIC AND OCULOPLASTIC SURGEON - MB ChB MRCOphth FRCSEd(Ophth)

Miss Sen joined Optegra Eye Hospital Birmingham in 2013. She graduated from Leicester University Medical School in 1993 and underwent ophthalmic surgical training in Liverpool. Further sub-specialist training in oculoplastics was undertaken in Newcastle upon Tyne and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. She currently holds a consultant post within the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust.

Miss Sen has a subspecialist practice in periocular skin cancer and reconstruction and is a core member of the Worcestershire multidisciplinary skin cancer team. She is one of the only UK ophthalmic surgeons trained to practice the Mohs micro-surgical technique for skin cancer, which combines the best outcomes in terms of both cure and tissue conservation. Cosmetic treatments, both surgical and non-surgical (botulin um toxin, fillers, chemical peels) are also part of Miss Sen's practice.

Miss Sen is the clinical lead for Clinical Governance and Audit within her NHS practice and is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
