Mr. Jonathan Lipton qualified from Manchester University Medical School in 1980 and subsequently trained at St. Paul's Eye Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Birmingham Children's Hospital, Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary and Moorfields Eye Hospital before joining the Royal Oldham Hospital as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in 1992. His clinical interests include cataract surgery, glaucoma management, oculomotility and oculoplastic problems, the use of B. toxin in ophthalmic conditions and the treatment of macula degeneration. He is a member of both the UK & Ireland, and European Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and a Senior Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. As chair of the North-Western Regional Committee, Mr. Lipton represents the North-West on the BMA National Consultants Committee. He is a founding partner of Manchester Consultants Eye Partnership.
