About Allergy Ireland

Specialist Allergy Testing, Doctor Consultation & Allergy Treatment

For over 40 years, Allergy Ireland has been dedicated to providing expert allergy care to both children and adults. Established in 1984 at the Slievemore Clinic, we have grown into Ireland's most highly specialised and resourced allergy clinic, conveniently located in Stillorgan, County Dublin. Our highly experienced doctors carry out endoscopic examination of the nasal cavity and comprehensive allergy testing in combination with effective and proven treatment plans. We also provide additional advanced allergy treatment options such as Rhinolight and Immunotherapy.

Medical Conditions

Our doctors focus is helping you medically manage and treat conditions including:

  • Nasal and Respiratory: Allergic Rhinitis (Hayfever), Non-Allergic Rhinitis, Chronic Sinusitis and Asthma.
  • Skin conditions: Eczema, Contact Dermatitis, Urticaria (hives) and Angioedema.
  • Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis.
Expertise You Can Trust

Our medical team consists of highly experienced allergists. Each doctor initially qualified and practiced as a General Practitioner (MICGP, MB BCh BAO) before dedicating themselves solely to the field of allergy medicine. This breadth of experience ensures a comprehensive approach to your care.

As recognised leaders in allergy, our staff frequently present at medical conferences and contribute to respected publications like the Irish Medical Times and Medical Independent. We are also regularly consulted by national radio, television and print for our opinion.

Comprehensive Allergy Testing to aid Accurate Diagnosis

Understanding the cause of your symptoms is the first step. At our Dublin clinic, allergy testing involves a thorough consultation with one of our specialist doctors to ensure accurate interpretation and guide your management plan. Depending on your needs, testing may include:

  • Skin Prick Allergy Testing: The primary method for identifying allergic sensitisation to a wide range of common inhalant and food allergens.
  • Patch testing: Specifically used to diagnose triggers for Contact Dermatitis.
  • Nasoendoscopy: Allows detailed examination of the nasal passages when necessary.
  • IgE Specific Blood tests: Sometimes utilised in conjunction with skin prick allergy testing when life threatening food allergy is identified.
Allergy Treatments

Based on your diagnosis, our doctors will develop a personalised and effective medical treatment plan.

We also offer additional advanced therapeutic options:

  • Allergen Desensitisation Immunotherapy: This is a proven and effective treatment option for house dust mite and pollen allergies. It involves taking a daily dose of the culprit allergen to generate long term immune tolerance.
  • Rhinolight endonasal phototherapy: Rhinolight uses a specific narrow range of UV light to treat allergic and non-allergic inflammation of the nasal mucosa. It is highly effective in treating the vast majority of cases of Allergic Rhinitis.
