Jack’s expertise was honed through diverse experience. After qualifying, he worked in a renowned North Wales practice specialising in oral surgery and advanced restorative dentistry, where he quickly established himself as a skilled and compassionate clinician. His drive to bring this high level of care back to his hometown led him to re-join the long-established family practice in Liverpool.

Here, Jack is at the forefront of modern dental techniques. Learning from his father, John Duthie—a UK pioneer and international trainer in CEREC CAD/CAM technology—Jack has become an exceptionally experienced practitioner in same-day crowns, veneers, bridges, and inlays. He has furthered this by completing an advanced restorative training course in London, focusing on achieving exceptional, natural-looking aesthetic results.

Jack’s advanced skills extend to dental implants, where he works closely with our specialist implant surgeon to plan and restore complex cases using state-of-the-art digital CAD/CAM technology. This allows for precise, long-lasting, and beautiful implant-supported teeth.

Dr Marie-Louise Duthie is a highly accomplished dentist and the clinical director of our Liverpool practice. Qualifying with awards in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Newcastle in 2002, she has built a distinguished career combining exceptional clinical skills with leadership in both dental and facial aesthetics.

Marie-Louise is dedicated to postgraduate excellence. She holds the MJDF diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has advanced training in ceramic reconstructions and Invisalign clear braces. Understanding dental anxiety, she is also qualified to provide comfortable IV sedation for nervous patients and has a special interest in professional tooth whitening.

Meet Dr Nick Longridge: Liverpool's Specialist in Microscopic Root Canal Treatment & Endodontics

Dr Nick Longridge is a Specialist Endodontist dedicated to saving teeth through advanced, precision root canal therapy. Working exclusively with a dental operating microscope, he provides exceptional care for complex cases, with a primary aim to prolong the life of teeth compromised by decay, trauma, abscesses, or previous treatment.

Nick’s expertise is built on a strong academic foundation from the University of Liverpool, where he graduated with Honours and distinctions in key subjects. His advanced training pathway included specialist roles in Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry at leading Liverpool hospitals such as Aintree University Hospital, Alder Hey, and Liverpool University Dental Hospital.

His commitment to specialist endodontic care led to his appointment as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Endodontics. Nick successfully achieved his Membership in Endodontics (MEndo) in 2019 and completed a Professional Doctorate in Endodontics in 2020, with research focused on pulp biology and regeneration. He now also shares his knowledge as a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Liverpool.

Meet Dr Kate: Liverpool Oral Surgeon 

Dr Kate is a highly skilled Oral Surgeon with a dedicated focus on providing expert surgical care and compassionate support for anxious patients in Liverpool. Her career is built on a strong foundation of hospital-based surgical training, a passion for teaching, and advanced qualifications in conscious sedation.

Qualifying with Honours from the University of Liverpool, Kate honed her surgical skills through rigorous Senior House Officer posts in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Special Care Dentistry. She further developed her expertise by working as a Community Dental Officer and as an Outreach Supervisor, cultivating a patient-centred approach that she brings to every consultation.

Since 2017, Kate has focused exclusively on Oral Surgery, gaining extensive experience in hospitals across the region. She now holds a part-time position as a Specialty Doctor in Oral Surgery at a hospital on the Wirral and is an active member of the British Association of Oral Surgery.

Kate holds a key distinction for nervous patients: she is a certified sedation specialist. Having passed the SAAD National Conscious Sedation Course, she has recently been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation 

with Merit

 from Newcastle University. This allows her to provide a calm, comfortable, and anxiety-free experience for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Committed to the highest standards, Kate has achieved Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice. Meet Dr Jack: Liverpool's Dental Sleep Medicine Specialist for Snoring & Sleep Apnoea

Dr Jack is a highly experienced dentist with over four decades in general practice and a dedicated, specialist focus on Dental Sleep Medicine. He provides expert mandibular advancement appliance therapy for the treatment of snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), offering a vital alternative for patients who struggle with CPAP compliance.

With a career spanning 40 years, Dr Jack has devoted the last decade to mastering the field of sleep-disordered breathing. He has pursued extensive postgraduate training both in the UK and the USA, ensuring his practice is at the forefront of dental sleep therapy. Until recently, he served as a board member of the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine, underlining his commitment to the specialty.

Currently holding the position of Regional Clinical Lead for a major dental provider, Dr Jack lectures on the provision of sleep services within dentistry and is passionate about a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. He believes snoring and OSA are best managed through team-based care and actively seeks to partner with medical colleagues, including ENT specialists and sleep physicians.

Dr Jack welcomes referrals for patients who may benefit from oral appliance therapy, including those with CPAP failure or non-compliance, and cases with high AHI (Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index) that often respond well to a custom-fitted mandibular advancement device.

Dr. Sam Johnson is a highly skilled endodontist with a focus on providing expert root canal treatments at Abbey Dental. After earning his dental degree in 2015, Dr Johnson pursued advanced training, completing a master’s degree in Endodontology in 2021.

This training makes him exceptionally qualified to perform intricate root canal procedures for both externally referred and in-house patients. In recognition of his excellence in endodontics, Dr Johnson was honoured with the General Dental Practitioner 2023 award by the British Endodontic Society at their Annual National Conference. Dr Johnson is also dedicated to education and outreach. He provides hand-on lectures, where he shares his expertise on how to perform successful root canal treatments with fellow dentists.

He also runs a YouTube channel, “i_love_the_pulp,” where he shares live demonstrations of root canal treatments, tutorials, and reviews of endodontic equipment, helping to educate both dental professionals and the general public.
