temp filling, crown, fillings, root canal
I had my first appointment of many to fix the damage to some of my teeth and I have to say, I have never felt more relaxed and comfortable at a dental surgery. Normally I'm terrified at the thought of going but have been in such chronic pain with a broken tooth that I couldn't put it off. A previous dentist told me he would prefer to extract the tooth, as I am only 22 I would rather keep all teeth at all costs!!! I left it a while and made an emergency appointment at Rossgate as the pain had become unmanageable. I was seen the same day by the lady dentist there who told me not only could they save my tooth, pointed out a couple of other smaller issues that they could help with too before they got in a worse state.
I was very skeptical about pricing as although the treatment is not expensive on the NHS, I am only entitled to a silver crown which would be very demoralising. I had previously been quoted £500 for a white crown - not including any other fillings which would still be silver. Here, I was offered the root canal and crown needed for my broken tooth and 2 further fillings required, all white, for £319 (£100 extra for the shade). I was also prescribed some sodium chloride toothpaste to help fight decay. Furthermore, they were more than happy to allow me to spread the cost of payment. I paid the initial £18.50 for the emergency appointment and they said I can pay a bit off each time I visit back (I will have to go back a couple of times)
As someone who hasn't been to the dentist since they were 18, I can't believe how well this has gone and although it's never going to be a pleasurable experience, for the first time in years I am looking forward to having my teeth fixed rather than dreading it!!
