He qualified in 1977 from the Royal Dental Hospital of London and was awarded a Licentiate in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in the same year. He undertook a postgraduate placement in restorative dentistry and oral surgery in the same hospital before moving to Brighton in 1981. He is a member and Implant Mentor for The Association of Dental Implantology and a fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine. He is also a Consultant Member of the British Society of Oral Implantology.
