Gingival Flap Surgery
Gingival flap surgery is a type of gum procedure. The gums are separated from the teeth and folded back temporarily. This allows a dentist to reach the root of the tooth and the bone.Gingival flap surgery is used to treat gum disease (periodontitis). It may be recommended for people with moderate or advanced periodontitis. Usually, a treatment that doesnt involve surgery is done first. This is called scaling and root planing. If this treatment does not eliminate the gum infection, gingival flap surgery may be used. It also may be done along with another procedure known as osseous (bone) surgery. Your periodontist or your dental hygienist will first remove all plaque and tartar (calculus) from around your teeth. He or she will make sure that your oral hygiene is good. Your periodontist also will evaluate your health and the medicines you take. This is important to make sure that surgery is safe for you. First, you will get a shot to numb the area. Then the periodontist will use a scalpel to separate the gums from the teeth. They will be lifted or folded back in the form of a flap. This gives the periodontist direct access to the roots and bone supporting the teeth. Inflamed tissue will be removed from between the teeth and from any holes (defects) in the bone. The periodontist then will do a procedure called scaling and root planing to clean plaque and tartar. If you have bone defects, your periodontist may eliminate them. This procedure is called osseous recontouring. It smoothes the edges of the bone using files or rotating burs. After these procedures are completed, the gums will be placed back against the teeth and stitched in place. Some periodontists use stitches that dissolve on their own. Others use stitches that have to be removed a week to 10 days after the surgery. Your periodontist also may cover the surgical site with a bandage known as a periodontal pack or dressing. You will have mild to moderat
Gum Surgery
Periodontitis is a set of inflammatory diseases affecting the periodontium, i.e., the tissues that surround and support the teeth. Periodontitis involves progressive loss of the alveolar bone around the teeth, and if left untreated, can lead to the loosening and subsequent loss of teeth. Periodontitis is caused by microorganisms that adhere to and grow on the tooths surfaces, along with an overly aggressive immune response against these microorganisms. A diagnosis of periodontitis is established by inspecting the soft gum tissues around the teeth with a probe (i.e. a clinical exam) and by evaluating the patients x-ray films (i.e. a radiographic exam), to determine the amount of bone loss around the teeth.[1] Specialists in the treatment of periodontitis are periodontists; their field is known as "periodontology" or "periodontics".The cornerstone of successful periodontal treatment starts with establishing excellent
Gum Contouring and Reshaping
Gum contouring, also known as gum reshaping, is a cosmetic form of dental treatment used to improve the general look of a person’s teeth. It is primarily used in cases where the individual has what is commonly known as ‘gummy smile’. This is a condition in which the gums cover too much of the teeth, usually the front teeth, and this can leave the length of the teeth looking too short, which can affect a person’s general desire to smile. Such a condition may be caused due to genetics, health circumstances or as a result of certain high blood pressure prescriptions. This can have an affect on an individual’s self-confidence and may see them do their best not to smile in public. Thankfully, gum contouring is a dental treatment which is painless and able to solve the problem of ‘gummy smile’ through quick and painless treatment.

Rating from 1 Review He is patient and gives full details before and after the procedureNeeraj, Denmark, 31 Aug 17

I had a rather complicated filling procedure which was perfectly done by Dr. Stratikis. He is patient and gives full details before and after the procedure. Very kind and accommodating staff too. I was even called a few days after the procedure just to be checked on. I even got free cleaning procedure and goodie bag just because I was there. The clinic is very centrally located and the near metro station and on the main road, near hotels/accommodation, good food joints in the neighborhood and other shopping. Inside is modern and very aesthetically decorated. One feels at home. They even have a place for kids. My own daughters were busy through the long operation which was almost an hour and a half.

Rating from 3 Reviews I could not be happier with my decision!Zenia, UK, 21 Jan 17

Having gone to several orthodontists for an initial review, some even proposing teeth removal to alleviate overcrowding and allow space, I went with Dr. Julia as she was professional, approachable and listened to my concerns. I went with the Forestadent Lingual option on both arches as I work in a client-facing environment and am a little vain and couldn't bear the thought of a mouth full of metal. I could not be happier with my decision! Initial treatment time was estimated 12-18 months but my mouth is transformed (!) within 7 months - and I got my braces off last week! 7 months!! As You would expect; there were obviously some down points but these were absolutely minimal. Having to eliminate hard foods like apples and carrots, Additionally, I was lisping the first few weeks of wearing the braces, to much amusement of my partner but you just have to get used to that and keep your eyes on the price. 7 months is really nothing in the grand scheme of things - I just cannot believe I get to spend my 30th birthday with a big grin on my face!!! Thanks Dr. Julia. Lovely surroundings - there is such a great feel in both Ekali and Melissia, both clinics are light and airy, benefitting from modern interior. All staff I came into contact with were smiling, helpful and really nice. I travelled from northern Europe for this clinic, it really is worth it.

Soft Tissue Grafts
Soft tissue grafts can be used to cover roots or develop gum tissue where absent due to excessive gingival recession. During this procedure, your periodontist takes gum tissue from your palate or another donor source to cover the exposed root. This can be done for one tooth or several teeth to even your gum line and reduce sensitivity. A soft tissue graft can reduce further recession and bone loss. In some cases, it can cover exposed roots to protect them from decay. This may reduce tooth sensitivity and improve esthetics of your smile. Whether you have a soft tissue graft to improve function or esthetics, patients often receive the benefits of both: a beautiful new smile and improved periodontal health – your keys to smiling, eating and speaking with comfort and confidence.

In one appointment I had a permanent ceramic restoration and a tooth decay cleaned. The dentist spend 2 hours and 30 minutes with me. Way more efficient that what I had in France. The clinic is a bit far from the center of Athens but the dentist can speak French or English. The cabinet is on the 4th floor but well equipped and modern.
