Dr Alex Negoescu is LifeCare Dental’s Principal Dentist 

and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1980 from the University of Sydney. 

Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales. During his university years, Alex trained as a lieutenant in the Army Reserve (infantry) and spent all of his holidays and spare time on army camps. After graduating as a dentist, Alex relocated to Port Headland, where he worked for five years and met and married his wife Kate. Alex and Kate have two grown children – Loulou who is studying physiotherapy and John who is completing a Master’s degree in strength and conditioning.

Alex founded LifeCare Dental in 1989 and now has over 34 years of experience practicing dentistry. He has grown his practice by one dentist a year for 25 years and places a strong emphasis on continuing education within LifeCare. His focus is on his dentists having the highest standard of evidence based dentistry and in addition to mandatory Continual Professional Development points, all LifeCare dentists are required to keep up their studies. Not only does Alex operate as LifeCare’s Principal Dentist, but he also mentors dental graduates, passing on his wealth of experience to young dentists.

In 1998 Alex was involved in one of the two yearly Australian Dental Association conferences where four of his dentists conducted a live implant demonstration on stage. He has presented at a Dental Corporation Australia conference on building a successful practice and is a member of the Australian Dental Society, Prosthodontic Society, Periodontics Society, Endodontics Society and Osseo-integration Society.

In his spare time, Alex enjoys travelling with his family, relaxing down south and skiing. He is also an avid gym enthusiast, working out regularly at the ‘Mill Gym’. Alex speaks fluent Romanian and has visited Papua New Guinea for volunteer work.

Dr Joanne Berry attended Perth College Anglican School for Girls and has worked at LifeCare Dental since 2000.

Originally Joanne thought she would become a forensic scientist and studied broad based science at the University of Western Australia, majoring in Microbiology and Anatomy and Human Biology. She then went on to complete her honours researching the role of a death gene in breast cancer before realising that her passion lay within dentistry.

Joanne wanted to be sure that another five years of study would land her in her dream job so she began her career at LifeCare as a Dental Nurse and continued in this role until she qualified as a Dentist in 2007. Joanne believes that dentistry is a creative mixture of art and science and the stimulation of not knowing how her day will progress or who she will meet is what she loves about her job.

When Joanne isn’t working she is usually travelling, be it for enjoyment, to experience other cultures or to attend a dental conference of some sort. She loves to eat and although she doesn’t rate herself as much of a cook she does enjoy going out for a nice meal and wine. Fitness is an integral part of Joanne’s work/life balance and her love of food necessitates her gym habit. She likes to run along the river and beach and enjoys a good fitness class at the gym, but most of all loves to go horse-riding.

Dr Alan Quan was born and raised in Perth, completed his studies at The University of Western Australia and has been working at Lifecare Dental since 2008.

He is fascinated with the fine detail of dentistry, and enjoys using the latest technology to ensure his patients’ dental needs are met to the highest standard. Alan speaks English and Cantonese, and is learning Mandarin. Outside of dentistry he enjoys surfing, motorsport, photography and pizza.

Dr Angela Pathmanathan is a friendly, gentle and caring dentist who has been working at LifeCare Dental since graduating in 2008. 

She completed her Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours at the University of Western Australia.

Angela is dedicated to providing appropriate and high quality dental care and enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially preventive and aesthetic dentistry. She is also experienced in the exciting new technique of teeth straightening called invisalign or ‘invisible braces’. This technique is suited for mature patients who wish to improve their smile with shorter treatment times and without the discomfort of braces.

Angela is registered with the Dental Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Dental Association. She is always keen to expand her knowledge in the constantly growing field of dentistry and regularly attends professional development courses. She also spends time doing volunteer work for the Australian Red Cross meals on wheels and has provided dental aid work in Calcutta, India.
In her spare time Angela loves participating in yoga classes, playing tennis, cooking and travelling.

Dr Ashanth Phillips is a caring and friendly dentist who completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Otago, New Zealand in 2007. 

He has worked at country and suburban practices in New Zealand, and has been at Lifecare Dental since 2011. This has given him a broad range of experiences from nearly all aspects of dentistry.

Ashanth has a special interest in orthodontics, or the movement of teeth to give you a better smile! He has spent 2013 and 2014 studying with Progressive Orthodontics and is the only dentist at Lifecare that can provide treatment with braces. He can also provide treatment with Invisalign, which are like (nearly) invisible braces.

Outside work Ashanth enjoys spending time with family, cooking and travelling to new places. He also loves listening to music, watching movies, gaming and has recently become enamoured with watching Formula 1. He used to volunteer and host a radio show on RTRFM playing all sorts of music!

A few years ago Ashanth spent a few weeks giving volunteer dental care in Cambodia, and speaking to and training Dental Students in Phnom Penh. He also takes part in the Lifecare Dental Charity days.

Dr Kavindu Caldera has been working at LifeCare Dental for 4 years. Initially he started as a dental assistant to the principal dentist Alex, before completing his dental degree in 2011 at the University of Western Australia. 

He has attended numerous courses since graduation including those with the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry.

Kav is one of the most relaxed and approachable dentists on our team and is efficient in all aspects of patient care including but not limited to implants, root canal treatment and cosmetic dentistry. He is the resident sports lover, speaks Sinhala and prides himself on his time management ensuring you won’t be twiddling your thumbs in the waiting room!

Dr Negar Darabi graduated from Beheshti University in Tehran, Iran and has been practicing dentistry for 12 years. 

She has been tutoring at The University of Western Australia’s Dental School since 2007 and has worked at LifeCare Dental since 2008.

Negar is passionate about her job and enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially when she helps put a smile on a patient’s face. Her main goal is to have her patients leave our surgery happier and healthier than when they entered. She believes that her love of dentistry may have come from her father, who is also a dentist.

When Negar is not working as a dentist, she relishes spending time with her beautiful family, which include her husband, baby boy (who was born in January 2014) and her dog, Choco. She also loves travelling, good food, playing volleyball, skiing and horse riding.

Dr Justin Soon was born in Singapore but grew up in Perth. He has three main loves in his life – Dentistry, family and friends.

Justin completed his bachelor of dental surgery at the University of Western Australia and is one of LifeCare Dentals most dedicated and passionate dentists. He will always strive to provide you with the best experience possible no matter what kind of dental situation you are in. He will never judge you or your teeth and will try his very best to be as gentle as possible.

Justin has extremely high personal standards when practicing dentistry and will always make every effort to give you the best outcome possible. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry but in particular relishes cosmetic dentistry such as veneers and crowns, wisdom teeth surgery and implant therapy.

Being a patient of Justin’s means he will always be available to his patients 24/7 and is happy to talk to you anytime you need advice – the latest he’s been found at work attending to a dental emergency is at 2am!

Dr Yvonne Yoo completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Western Australia. 

Her aim as a dentist is to provide a high standard of treatment in a gentle and caring environment.

Yvonne enjoys all aspects of general, emergency, and cosmetic dentistry and regularly attends courses and conferences in order to provide up to date treatment for her patients.

Yvonne is a dedicated dentist who believes in hard work, evidence based practice, and quality treatment to provide her patients with a healthy beautiful smile.

When not at work, Yvonne loves nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, swimming, and spending time outdoors.

Dr Sam Saeedi was born and raised in Perth and graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Science. At age 11, he was the best kitchen hand at his father’s ice cream store, later to be promoted to general manager. Sam loves cookies and cream but has an appreciation for moderation and dental decay. He always aspires to bring smiles to the people around him and hence fell in love with the art of dentistry.

Sam has worked in dental facilities in metropolitan and rural Western Australia and in Sri Lanka. Sam recognises the value of effective communication with patients and colleagues. He strives for excellence and keeps up to date with new developments and resources in dentistry. In addition to English he also speaks Farsi.

Outside of dentistry he enjoys spending time with family and friends. He also particularly enjoys outdoor water activities, movies and music; and regularly heads down to Mandurah during crabbing season.

Sam believes the mouth is a portal to the entire body. For this reason, he lives by the motto that a healthy oral environment contributes to a nourished lifestyle.

Dr Christina DePiazzi graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Western Australia. She was born and raised in Perth and attended Penrhos College prior to studying dentistry.

Christina chose dentistry because as a child she had very crooked teeth, and ever since having braces she has been passionate about creating beautiful bright smiles. She is a strong believer that a smile is the best accessory anyone can wear!

Christina is a vivacious and bubbly young woman who is passionate about providing quality dental treatment. She understands that dental visits can be extremely stressful and is able to build rapport with her patients and put them at ease.

In her spare time, Christina enjoys drinking good quality coffee, trying out new brunch places and doing group fitness training. She enjoys spending time with family, walking her pet dog and going to the beach.

Dr Vireena Koshal has been working at LifeCare Dental ever since completing her Bachelor of Dental Science at the prestigious University of Western Australia. She has wanted to pursue dentistry since a very young age, with several dental shadowing experiences during her formative high school years being the catalyst for this passion. As part of her dental degree she has worked at the Oral Health Centre of WA, Dental Health Services clinics in Albany and Mount Henry where she had the opportunity to treat a broad range of patients.

Vireena’s gentle approach, caring nature, and vibrant personality, combined with commitment to the highest clinical standards will enable you to feel at ease during your visit. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, is a member of the Australian Dental Association, and regularly attends professional development courses to further her knowledge within the vast field. Her holistic approach to patient treatment places special emphasis on minimal intervention dentistry and preventative oral health regimes. Ultimately, her personal goal for all her patients is to facilitate in making happy, healthy and beautiful smiles.

Vireena speaks fluent Hindi and in the near future hopes to learn Arabic as well. When not working as a dentist, she enjoys gymming, painting and various outdoor activities including skiing and scuba diving. She values broadening her horizons through travelling and learning about different cultures. Additionally, Vireena regularly participates in dental volunteering activities, the most recent being with the Tzu Chi Foundation where hundreds of refugee and homeless patients were treated.

Dr Ealin Lee graduated from the University of Western Australia and has been full time in private practice ever since. Her aim is to provide the highest standard of dental care in a gentle and comfortable environment.

Ealin is passionate about all aspects of general dentistry and believes in working together with the patient to achieve a healthy smile.

In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with friends and family.

Dr Laith Aswad was born in Iraq and completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Baghdad University.

 He has been practicing dentistry since 2005 and has worked at LifeCare dental for more than 3 years.

Laith believes that a healthy smile is essential for a healthy life and that oral and dental health is important to the overall health and wellbeing of all individuals. His previous experience in private practice has given him the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of dentistry. However, he has a special interest in endodontics and surgery and is considering furthering his education focussing on dental Implants.

Laith understands that having dental work done can be stressful and even hard sometimes. To ease any discomfort he likes to explain the treatment plan to patients so that they have a better understanding of the procedure and more control over their treatment. He believes that involving patients in their own treatment makes their dental experience more delightful.

Outside of dentistry Laith enjoys spending his spare time with family and friends and is fluent in Arabic as it is his mother tongue.

Dr Trishin Seetharam grew up in Newcastle NSW, a city renowned for being one of the best surfing locations in Australia. 

His lifelong passion to become a dentist since he was nine years old led him to study dentistry at the prestigious University of Western Australia. As part of his degree he also enjoyed working in the Oral Health Centre of WA and clinics in Warwick and Bunbury. Before joining LifeCare Dental in 2013 he worked in a number of private practices around Perth.

If you are self-conscious about your smile Trishin’s gentle and caring nature will help to ease any anxiety so that you can have a healthy and beautiful smile. Trishin is passionate about all aspects of general dentistry and particularly enjoys oral surgery, cosmetic and implant dentistry. He has a keen interest in dental ceramics and regularly attends continuing education courses and lectures to keep abreast with the latest advances in dentistry. Trishin’s dedication to dentistry saw him spending his university holidays shadowing Specialists in Perth and Sydney.

In 2012, he completed an externship in oral surgery, implants and prosthodontics at the University of Sydney’s Westmead Dental Hospital specialist clinics. He has also completed a comprehensive orthodontics program with Invisalign Australia and an intensive dental implants course by specialist Michael Zaninovich in conjunction with BioHorizons implants. Trishin is a member of numerous professional associations including: Australian Dental Association, Australasian Ossointegration Implant Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and Invisalign Australia.

Trishin has extended his caring nature delivering meals to the elderly and people with disabilities by volunteering with the Meal on Wheels Association and has helped out providing fun dental advice at the Perth Pregnancy Babies and Children’s expo. When he is not at work he likes to spend his down time with his family or being social and active. He enjoys playing cricket and soccer or watching a footy game with mates.

Dr Michelle Dunne qualified from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and has been working with LifeCare Dental for the last 12 months. 

After graduation Michelle worked in the United Kingdom before deciding to travel to Australia. Working in both the public and private sector in the United Kingdom and Ireland has given her invaluable experience in dealing with all aspects of dentistry for a wide range of patients, both children and adults.

Michelle enjoys all areas of dentistry but particularly enjoys working with children. In 2012, she was nominated for the O’Mullane Award with the Irish Society of Dentistry for Children and shortlisted for the Medal Awards of the Odontology section of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland. She continues her dental education by regularly attending continuous dental education lectures and has completed Part One of the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) examination with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

She believes that being approachable, compassionate and a good listener is fundamental to giving the highest standard of care to all her patients especially those who may be anxious or have had previous bad experiences.
Michelle speaks French and Irish and in her spare time enjoys athletics, yoga, horse-riding and travelling. She also loves seeing and treating patients from her home country, Ireland.
