Dental Crowns

Porcelain Crown
Our skilled dentists will make an initial impression of your teeth, and tailor the crown to fit the exact dimensions of the damaged tooth. They will then fashion the porcelain crown to match the color of the rest of your teeth. To achieve this, we work with only the best dental labs in Melbourne, which provide custom shading for your teeth. Porcelain crowns have been known to last decades with proper care, and can even help with chewing or speaking problems that may have been caused by the damaged tooth. One of the most common dental treatments, porcelain crowns can brighten your smile in just two office visits!

Dental Implants
During your initial visit, our Doctors will evaluate your bone and gum health to determine whether you are good candidate for dental implants, including immediate dental implants. If dental implants are the right option for you, Dr. John Hagiliassis and Dr Sean Hogan will walk you through every step of the dental implant process, from initial planning to the final, permanent restoration.

Fillings
Fillings are usually placed in one appointment. While the tooth is numb, we will remove decay as necessary. The space will then be thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared before the new filling is placed. If the decay was near the nerve of the tooth, a special medication will be applied for added protection. The filling will then be precisely placed, shaped, and polished, restoring your tooth to its original shape and function.

White Filling
White Fillings, which are also known as composite resins or porcelain inlays, allow teeth to be filled and rebuilt utilising more aesthetically acceptable materials such as composite resin or porcelain. White Fillings do not contain mercury and are an ideal choice for achieving long term strength in filled teeth. Teeth that are heavily filled with large silver amalgam or mercury fillings are at risk of fracturing because the tooth is spread apart by these traditional filling materials. These teeth can be rebuilt with porcelain inlays, which holds the tooth together as opposed to spreading it apart, preserving the remaining healthy tooth structure. This allows teeth to be safely and aesthetically restored achieving a more attractive smile.

Invisalign™
Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position from which a series of custom-made, clear "aligners" are produced. Each "aligner" moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.

Periodontitis Treatment
Our patients with active Periodontal Disease are placed into our program of non-surgical Periodontal Therapies. Pocket measurements are done at each visit, and the condition of the gum tissue itself is assessed. Ultrasonic instrumentation, hand instrumentation, and use of antibacterial medications are used at each visit. Six weeks after completion of therapy, each pocket is remeasured. If all pockets are 4 millimetres or less, the patient will return to maintenance at intervals that are appropriate. In the small percentage of patients that do not respond to the therapy available in our program, a referral to our Periodontist is then indicated.

Root canals
The root canal procedure, one of our dentists will clean out the infected pulp chamber inside your tooth and repair the damage to relieve pain and clear the infection. Following root canal therapy, our dentist restores the form and function of treated teeth with a post filling and then a porcelain crown. Porcelain crowns are durable, long-lasting, and provide a superior aesthetic result.

Teeth Cleaning
Checking and assessing the overall health of your teeth, jaw, and gums, and performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. Following your thorough evaluation, we perform a careful diagnosis and provide you with your own individualized treatment plan.

Veneers

Porcelain Veneers
This procedure usually takes two to three visits to complete, over two to three weeks. Visit 1: The first visit is the longest. Depending on how many teeth are being prepared, it can last between one to two hours. This visit involves preparing the tooth for space to glue the veneer. Usually 0.5 mm of tooth is reduced, depending on the situation. Local anesthetic is used for the patient's comfort. Information of the persons mouth is also gathered so that the technician making the veneer shell can make it as accurate and to suit the individuals mouths as possible. Some of this information is impressions of the persons upper and lower teeth, a measurement of how their teeth come together, the shape required by the patient and of course the colour and brightness. At the end of the visit the patient is usually made a temporary plastic shell to cover and protect the area of their teeth tat has been reduced. This is to ensure there is no sensitivity and that the teeth appear reasonable until the final result is in inserted. Because it is simply a temporary the patient at all times should be careful over those two weeks. Visits 2 & 3: The final visit is to try the veneers in, make sure they fit well and that the shape, appearance and colour is satisfactory to the patient. Sometimes, adjustments are required or the technician needs to see the patient for him/herself it does require a third visit. Assuming all is good with the try in or the veneers, it is then time to cement or glue the veneers in. The procedure is very moisture or saliva sensitive, so the dentist may numb the area of convenience and comfort for the patient. Once they are cemented, they then need to be trimmed exactly to the patients bite and polished accordingly.
