He is the Clinical Director, was a pioneer of arthroscopy in Portugal, having started the technique in 1981. It is a founding member of the European Society of Sports Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA) since 1983. It is a founding member of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS) in 1994. With Master's degree, had prepared to present and defend their Doctoral Thesis in Sports Sciences, on the theme of work and research "The Anterior Cruciate Ligament." He was a founder in 1994 of the Portuguese Association of Arthroscopy and was the first president to hold office. Currently carries the mandate of President of the Portuguese Association of Sports Traumatology, which is also founder.
