Sagging breasts of normal size or atrophic ones may be primarily as such, e.g. with younger girls or, which is more usual, with women after giving birth. The procedure is similar to that of breast reduction (link), but here only the skin is tightened and the nipple and areola are moved to a higher position. Gland and fat tissues are not reduced or, if they are, it is done at the lower pole of the breast and very little.

One of the most frequent interventions in our Clinic is the augmention mammoplasty or the enlargement of breasts. This is an intervention by which the volume of the breast is augmented and its shape is improved.The surgery is performed: * with women who have naturally small breasts * after the atrophy after giving birth * for correction of asymmetric breasts * as reconstructive surgery after surgical removal of cancerIn this intervention an implant is inserted in the area behind the gland (retroglandular position) or behind the muscle (retromuscular position). The incisions are located in the area of the lower rim of the areola (darkly pigmented area around the nipple), in the area of the ridge between the breast and the chest or in the axilary pit. The wounds are finished by fine surgical technique resulting in minimally visible scars. The scars are red at first but they become paler. Each approach has its advantages and disadvantages. The external layer is made of silicone and they are filled with physiological solution or cohesive silicone of the latest generation. Before the surgery we will explain to you all the advantages and disadvantages of different types of implants.

Large, heavy and often hanging breasts do not only represent an aesthetic problem influencing the proportions of the female body, they also pose a medical problem which may result in back pain and wrong posture with nerve compression problems in the upper extremities. The principle of the procedure is to remove the excess skin, gland and fat tissue and move the nipple and areola to a higher, aesthetically acceptable position. Classic incision is in the shape of an anchor, while more recently the preferable incision is the so called short vertical scar technique with no horizontal scar in the inframamary fold. Large quantities of gland and fat tissue may be removed with aesthetically pleasing results. We also use the technique of autoaugmentation.The pendulous part of the gland and fat tissue is repositioned and fixed under the strip of pect. Major muscle. The technique gives more permanent result and better shaping of the breast. In the first few months the scars are reddish and somewhat wrinkled but in time they lose the redness and become less visible. We recommend treating the scars with silicone gel or silicone membranes. Recently we have started using PDL - Vbeam laser to treat the red,imatured scars. The results are promising. After the surgery the patient should wear a supportive bra. Bathing is possible after the stitches are removed, sunbathing after a month.
