Dr. Norman Van Der Dussen is an absolute artist at his work! His skills and his care for the patient are truly amazing and the results of my FFS exceeded my expectations.

I am 33 year old, transgender MtF, and had my FFS 12 months ago. I had my first consultation with Dr. Van Der Dussen about 16 months ago at 2Pass (now O2 clinc) in Antwerp.

Initially, I consulted multiple surgeons and was sceptical with Dr. Norman Van Der Dussen because of his age. However, he was the only surgeon who did not list all possibilities at me that one can do surgically. Instead,he took my photos and drew on them while explaining to me how he will feminise my face, while conserving the geometries that identify me. Besides the overwhelmingly good reviews made me choose him.

In total, my surgery took almost 8 hours and included forehead reconstruction type 3 (brow bone reduction, hair line lowering, brow lift), rhinoplasty and reduction of the chaw. Luckily,y my recovery was straightforward, fast and without too much pain (which is very different from person to person). I stayed 5 nights in the guest house at the clinic. The care was absolutely perfect and the staff very lovely.

Most of the swelling around the eyes disappeared after about 5 days. My pain was manageable (barely noticeable) without pain medication after 8 days and my bruising disappeared after about 10 days. After 2 weeks I went back to work. For the first 2 months my face, especially around my jaw was a bit swollen and puffy, however not a problem to go back to work. After about 6 months the final results were visible.

Noorman van der Dussen's expertise and experience played a major role in my decision to have my FFS with him, especially given the deeply personal significance of this part of my transition.

I was met with two people, a surgeon and his secretary, who both seemed personally invested in my results, and earned my trust.

I underwent forehead and hairline contouring, jaw and chin reshaping, a tracheal shave, and a lower lip fat transfer.

These procedures targeted the areas of most intense dysphoria for me; Facial dysphoria had been the strongest and most persistent part of my discomfort, and it has felt impossible to move forward confidently in my transition without aligning my face more closely with my identity.

The surgical experience itself was surprisingly manageable.
Pain was negligible; maybe a day or two of pain in my jaw and chin area, but otherwise I was fine.

The only small issue came from accidentally tugging on one of my mouth sutures while eating, which caused a little bump at the back of my mouth, but it healed without further problems, and overall, recovery was smooth thanks in large part to carefully following the post-op care instructions.

Emotionally, the immediate aftermath was incredibly affirming. When I finally saw myself without the compression garments, just about ten hours post-op, still looking like a zombie, my first reaction was a quiet “Wow, nice. I finally did it, hah.”
Even in the most swollen state I enjoyed looking at myself in the mirror.

That said, recovery wasn’t a straight line. About a month in, when the swelling started to subside, I hit a bit of an emotional low. Residual uneven swelling and excess tissue around my jaw and chin gave my face an aged look that was difficult to process after the initial high. I had to remind myself that healing is a marathon, not a sprint, and that I was only one month post-op.
By the two-to-three-month mark, the swelling improved, and I found myself really enjoying my reflection again.

FFS didn’t solve everything, but it changed everything. It gave me a foundation of comfort and confidence that’s been vital for me as a trans woman. Socially, I’m gendered correctly far more often now, and personally I feel far more confident in proceeding with my transition and be more "me".

The staff were very accommodating and the communication all along the process was clear and professional.

The Dr. listened to what I wanted and the results look very natural, I'm overall really pleased with how I look now. I feel much more feminine in my appearance and much more confident nowadays.

Cannot recommend Dr Oelbrandt enough. I have had two procedures done by him, the first in 2011 and the second last month. He has a wealth of experience, and is so patient and understanding. Takes time to understand the issues and desired outcomes, and is realistic and clear about the procedure and outcomes. I am so happy with the results of my recent procedure - a neck and facelift, and dramatic improvement in a facial scar which had affected my confidence. Dr Oelbrandt consults in London and then performs the surgery in Beveren. It represents very good value for money. I originally chose this clinic in 2011 because it was recommended by a friend.

Doctor Oelbrandt really takes his time to listen to your wishes and gives you clear explanations on every question. You can view photos of beautiful results of the "before and after" so that you can already get a clear picture. Doctor Oelbrandt is also easily accessible and very involved and will also email you all the information you need. I also had a lot of confidence in the doctor, and the result is great! The nursing was also very reassuring and top!

Dr. Oelbrandt is obviously a very experienced, highly qualified plastic surgeon. During the first consultation, he took ample time to explain the various options to me and we agreed that I would have a facelift, limited neck lift and a lateral brow lift. The surgery itself was uneventful and recovery was quick and hassle-free. I am extremely pleased with the natural-looking result. Before the procedure my face looked old and tired; now I like looking at my face in the mirror again. It was also good value compared to prices in other countries like Italy or the UK.

Honestly, there is no way to fault this surgeon he is honestly amazing! Best prices and best results. The Dr himself gives the best advice and really knows what he is talking about, the surgery he performed is everything that I wanted and life-changing. I had a breast reduction with Dr Oelbrandt 3 weeks ago and my experience with him has been amazing right from the start. On the first consultation, he explained everything to me from A to Z, I came in with a list of questions and they got answered before I even got to ask them. I had my breast augmentation/UPLIFT 5 years ago with Dr Oelbrandt and I have never regretted my decision. If your looking for a surgeon who performs natural results then look no further. We travelled from London to Belgium and all communication from Dr O and his team was flawless! Such as easy road trip. The cost was more than affordable and you can see that Dr O is not there to make you feel like another statistic, he is there to give you the confidence you are looking for.

He recommends a hotel just across the road from the clinic, giving you the ease of use especially after your procedure. 5-star service!

Consultations can be done by Skype or in London, again never ever felt pressurised. Dr O knows exactly what will suit you and never gives you false hope. I did my consultations face to face in London. His communication by email is also fantastic and always responds.

The Singleberg clinic is absolutely stunning, clean & professional. All nurses and anaesthetists are so calming. Its location is perfect, near the shops and a hotel. If your looking for a clinic and surgeon, look no further. You will not be disappointed! A very happy client!
