I am 4 weeks post liposuction on my "love handles". I am a fit healthy size 12 and no matter what I did I could not budge these stubborn pockets of fat. I can happily report that they are now a lot smaller than they were before, but don't be fooled, they're not completely gone and I am certainly no super model. Another thing to consider is, once they're gone you seem to find something else that is wrong, I now have this strange roll where my underwear sits.... I guess I didn't notice it before as the other fat was shadowing it.
As far as the procedure goes, I was made very comfortable with sedatives, my Doctor (Pearl) was very professional and made me feel at ease. The procedure itself was about 3 hours long, I didn't feel any pain and honestly couldn't complain about it at all, although I think the nurse was "on-call" as she didn't seem to know much about anything.
2 days following the procedure I felt a small amount of pain but it was bearable. Then day 3 hit and I was in a world of pain which lasted about 5 days. I could hardly walk as the vibration through my legs and into my hips was too much, I could only lay on my back, the garment felt like I was being strangled and sitting at a desk for work was a nightmare. So I would suggest that anyone getting lipo on their love handles take 1 week off work.
I was able to return to exercise in week 3 and I feel pretty good in week 4 but there is still some pain and swelling (which I am told can last for a few months) I have removed my garment but still wear it some nights in bed when I am feeling extra sore and uncomfortable.
I chose this clinic on price, which I know you shouldn't do. After meeting with Dr. Pearl I felt more at ease. All dealings with the Doctor were of a high standard (which you would expect), however, customer service is where it stops, I had to call 6 times to get my appointment paperwork and each time I called no one seemed to know what was going on.
This was my first cosmetic procedure and perhaps I had unrealistic expectations but I felt that the whole outpatient experience is probably better in a busy public hospital. I waited in a gown in a cold room for 2 hours, I didn't receive anything to eat post procedure (not even a snack) after fasting for such a long time, I barely got a drink of water and I never received a follow up call. I guess you pay for what you get.
