What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging products that are injected into the skin of patients to add volume. They are injected to make skin that is sagging or has become wrinkled because of age look smooth and plump. They are also called injectable facial fillers, injectable cosmetic fillers or soft tissue fillers.  They are made of hyaluronic acid taken from animals or from the fat of the patient. It takes five minutes to an hour to perform dermal filler procedures.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers last from six months to five years. They are not permanent and are absorbed by the skin over time.

Is the administration of Dermal Fillers painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the skin before dermal filler injections are administered. Patients will feel the pain of the injection during the procedure and after the anaesthetic wears off, for a few days. Some fillers contain an analgesic substance called lidocaine. These fillers are less painful than other fillers.

When can I travel by air after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should wait one week after getting dermal fillers injected before travelling by air. Air travel can aggravate the swelling and bruising that may occur after dermal fillers are injected.

How long does recovery take after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Recovery from dermal filler injections may take seven to fourteen days. Recovery depends on each individual patient.

What after care is required after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol until any swelling has subsided. They should avoid touching their face for at least one day. They should avoid going in direct sunlight for at least two days. They should drink plenty of water after the treatment. They should not get any beauty treatments done on their face for at least a week. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. They should avoid blood thinning medications for a few weeks.  Patients should perform facial exercises for a few hours after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to Dermal Fillers?

Collagen stimulation therapy, some herbal medicines or lotions and micro-current assisted skin toning are some alternatives to injecting dermal fillers.

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are the main solutions we use for ‘ static lines ‘ and ‘ gravitational fold’. They are injected directly beneath a line or fold to fill the depression it makes in the skin. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are widely known in the industry by their high-end brand names. HA dermal fillers are the main solutions we use for ‘static lines’ and ‘gravitational folds’. They are injected directly beneath a line or fold to fill the depression it makes in the skin. Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid. It is an important physiological substance that all skin contains naturally. Its key role is to maintain the plumpness and moisture that helps keep the skin surface smooth and lifted, but its level declines with age. We inject fillers containing transparent hyaluronic acid gel, which over time is broken down by your body’s natural enzymes, just like your natural hyaluronic acid. An injectable substance called Hyaluronidase can dissolve fillers, in case you do not like them. Fillers can be used for all sorts of lines and wrinkles, plump up thinning lips, enhance or fill in shallow areas on the face, decrease or remove the shadow or wrinkle under the eyes caused by the lower eyelid (tear trough), fill in or soften the look of recessed scars, fill in or soften static wrinkles, especially on the lower face. Static wrinkles include those around the mouth and along the cheeks. These wrinkles are usually a result of a loss of collagen and elasticity in the skin. The effect is instantly visible, although there may be some minor swelling and bruising. Durability depends on the patient, their lifestyle, age, and the areas injected. Dermal Fillers usually last around six to twelve months.
Lip Augmentation
Lip filler treatment, also called lip enhancement or augmentation, can help to add or restore volume to the lips. Popular with patients of all ages, lip enhancement is one of the fastest-growing non-surgical treatments. If your lips have lost definition over the years, or never had the fullness you would like, lip fillers can enhance the shape and volume of your lips to give you more definition to your smile and more confidence in your appearance. You can choose the exact look you want, whether that’s a subtle change or much fuller lips. We’ll create a personalised treatment programme to ensure your lips stay plump and continue to look great.
