What is a Threadlift?

A threadlift, or suture lift, procedure is an anti-aging procedure where special absorbable and invisible threads are used to augment the features of the face and hold the skin and facial tissue in place. The threadlift procedure is long lasting compared to anti-aging injectables. The procedure augments drooping eyebrows, sunken cheeks and sagging jowls and necks. It takes about two or three hours to carry out. Threadlift results last for about two years.

How is a Threadlift performed?

Sterile thin needles with absorbable, fine barbed thread dipped in stem cell liquid are inserted under the skin of the area to be treated. They are pulled out together leaving the thread inside the skin. Collagen is stimulated when the needles are pulled out and this augments skin tone. The thread is slowly absorbed by the skin.

Are Threadlifts painful?

Threadlifts are performed after administering local anaesthesia. Patients will feel no pain during a threadlift procedure.

When can I travel by air after a Threadlift procedure?

Patients should not travel by air for two weeks after the threadlift procedure. They should consult their doctor and get certified as fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

How long does recovery take after a Threadlift procedure?

Patients take one to two weeks to completely recover from a threadlift procedure.

What aftercare is required after a Threadlift procedure?

Patients should take all prescribed medications correctly. Patients should eat soft food for at least two weeks. Patients should keep their head elevated while sleeping for two weeks and keep their feet elevated while sitting. They should not talk or move their face for at least a day. They should avoid putting on makeup for at least three days. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month.

People and Skin Med-Aesthetic Clinic

58, Cathedral Street, Sliema
With over a decade of experience in the Medico-Cosmetics industry, People&Skin was born from a desire to provide better, professional, cosmetic dermatology services. The business advocates self-improvement through cosmetics and the impact that these changes will have on boosting client confidence, treating people, not just their skin. What sets the company apart is the uncompromising determination to offer a client-centred service, with a particular focus on pre-treatment consultation to understand clients’ expectations, explaining the options available as well as the procedures to be expected along the way. This could only be achieved by investing in the right talent. It is through client understanding that the business illustrates and measures its pursuit for excellence.
Thread Lifting
A thread lift can help lift the face without invasive surgery – inserting threads through small punctures to the skin which later become invisible - and can be used anywhere on the face where a gentle lifting is desired.  This procedure is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid-thirties to fifties. The areas which can be treated with a thread lift include the outer brow, the cheeks, naso-labial (nose to mouth) and lower eye areas, the jaw line for jowls, and the neck for sagging skin that is sometimes referred to as “chicken neck”. Most patients will not need all these areas treated at once, although this is possible. The results of this procedure lasts up to 2years. Common areas for treatment in younger patients are the cheeks and brows since they are the first areas of the face to start to sag. As you age the lower half of the face begins to sag as well. If there is a significant amount of redundant or sagging skin, often seen in older patients, this procedure would not be suitable and a traditional mid-face, face or brow lift operation may be recommended in order to remove the excess skin, therefore achieving a better result. The threads leave virtually no scars, are simple to insert, and have minimal down time.  Post procedure there could be bruising and slight swelling, which usually settles in a few days. Recovery is generally quick, with most patients returning to work the next day or after a few day’s rest.  Book a consultation today by e-mailing us on

Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers, are injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur. The product is based on hylauronic acid, which is an ingredient that is already found in our body. It temporarily adds and restores volume lost to the skin and subcutaneous tissues, may give the appearance of a smoother skin surface and may help smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Correction is temporary, therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal correction. The results may last as long as 12-18 months.
Veins Treatment
Microsclerotherapy is a technique of injecting thread or spider veins with a special substance known as a "sclerosant", usually a solution called sodium tetradecyl sulphate that causes swelling in the veins wall. If the vein is small enough, the swelling will destroy the vein over several weeks, making it much less noticeable or even invisible. Microsclerotherapy is normally used for the treatment of leg thread veins and is rarely used for the treatment of facial veins, where laser treatments are often favoured, owing to the small possibility of scarring that can occur. During the consultation an ultrasound doppler is done to make sure there is no back flow from the veins which may result in an unsatisfactory treatment.  There is usually minimal or no discomfort during microsclerotherapy injections due to the size of the needle and the superficial injection technique. Following injections compression stocking are applied which may be worn for three weeks post procedure to help assist shrinkage of the thread veins. A follow up is booked 2 weeks from the procedure. During this session the are might be treated again, either with the sclerosant or with Laser. The final follow up is booked 8 weeks from the first procedure to evaluate the final result.
