About Bariatric Surgery Ltd Alexandra Hospital

Bariatric or obesity surgery is the specialty of this very highly qualified and experienced Manchester based Surgeon. He is the leading bariatric surgeon in the North of England. The surgeon performs all types of bariatric surgical procedures at well-known private hospitals including The Alexandra Hospital at Cheadle in Cheshire and The Highfield Hospital at Rochdale in Lancashire. He performs all types of primary Bariatric surgical procedures like Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Gastric Banding and One anastomosis or Omega loop gastric bypass and also Revisional Bariatric surgery such as Removal of gastric band and conversion to either gastric sleeve or bypass.

At the initial consultation Mr Senapati will take thorough history including the impact of obesity on the total health of the patient. As we know obesity can affect any organ of the body from head to toe and the common diseases associated with obesity are Type 2 diabetes, Sleep Apnoea, Backache, arthritis of various joints, Polycystic Ovary syndrome, Oesophageal reflux, High Cholesterol, Hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome, Depression, Leg Oedema, Leg ulcers, Breathlessness on walking short distances and poor quality of life. Evidence suggests that Obesity not only impacts on quality of life but also has an effect on longevity. Literature suggests that one may loose upto 3-5 years if Body mass Index or (BMI) is more than 30, upto 5-7 years if BMI more than 40 also known as Morbid Obesity and upto 13 years if BMI is more than 50, also known as Super Obesity. Current Evidence suggests that Bariatric surgery will either cure or improve many of these associated diseases.

He listens very carefully patients dietary habits, patients behaviour and relation to various types of food before deciding the appropriate type of weight loss surgery, what is known as patient selection. This is a very delicate decision and is done with scientific and systematic approach in which the patient is the decision maker, who is  well informed with adequate and relevant information following the consultation. The patients will also have consultation with his team of Specialist Bariatric Nurses, Dieticians.

I had a gastric sleeve done in may 2017 by Professor Senapati. I cannot thank him enough! I am now 7 stones lighter and feel amazing.

My experience overall was excellent. Mr. Senapati was amazing, his team did a great job and still are with my aftercare. I cannot thank him enough! He has changed my whole life and I've seen results that I didn't think I'd ever see.

"I am 3 stone lighter and am already feeling fantastic and much healthier"
80%Reviewed 30 Jan 2018 Review verified by phone.
Treatment Received: Bariatric Surgery Consultation
I was so depressed at the beginning of my journey. The scales had crept to 15 stone. I knew something had to be done to help me. I struggled with losing weight for so many years due to health reasons and not being able to exercise. This was 4 months ago and it is honestly the best decision I have ever made. I am 3 stone lighter and am already feeling fantastic and much healthier. This has given me a whole new life and I now look forward to my future. I still have 3 stone to lose but I know I will get there soon and best of all keep the weight off. I couldn’t recommend this surgery anymore!

The surgery was brilliant. I can’t lie, I was in extreme pain for about 2 weeks but after that it was amazing. Mr. Senapati was brilliant, very quick and efficient. The ward I was on at the Alexandra wasn’t so brilliant. The nurses were too busy to care for me like I needed. The doctor said I just had to drink water following surgery. Then the nurse came with some apple juice and told me I had to make sure I drank it. I started being sick and in really bad pain. Then another doctor came in and was furious that I had been given this because it is so acidic! The nurses and aftercare were poor but I am still so glad I went through this and came out the other end! Here’s to a happier healthier slimmer future!

Treatment Received: Gastric Band
I was quite pleased with my Gastric Band appointment. I knew a few people who went there and I was impressed with the clinic so I decided to try them for a consultation. I was also pleased with how informative the doctors were.

The clinic came with a good reputation, I was happy with the price which I found to be very good competitively. The doctors were great overall so I would recommend the clinic.

"I feel so much happier with my appearance"
80%Reviewed 25 May 2017 Verified user. Review confirmed by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Bariatric Surgery Consultation
I feel I have been dieting for 30 years to no avail. I have simply gained more and more weight regardless.
Despite initial reservations I was reassured and felt confidence in Mr. Senapati and his team.
I underwent the gastric sleeve procedure under Mr. Senapati around six weeks ago. It went without any issues and the pain subsided in a few days. The post-operative regime was much easier than I anticipated and find that my life has changed in a number of positive ways not least of which is that I am 20Kg the lighter and my BMI racing towards normal. I feel so much happier with my appearance, I can now start to enjoy exercise and face the prospect of buying clothes sizes I could only dream of a few short weeks ago.
This procedure may not be for everyone and needs careful consideration before embarking on this journey however it seems to be working for me so far.

The Hospital was excellent, the staff very friendly and efficient.

I was a little skeptical about the life changing procedure, but I am glad I made the decision to go ahead with Dr Senapati. After care was excellent and the nurses are excellent.
