The focus of our surgeon is to make obese patients enjoy long term health and well-being, and raise the patient's level of self-esteem as the weight loss progresses.  Procedures performed include the gastric lap band,  vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, gastric balloon procedure, gastric plication surgery and revision surgery for patients who have undergone unsuccessful procedures before, including pouch reduction and anastomosis (bypass to bypass revision).
Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy $5800 - $7500
VERTICAL SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY: The surgeon removes approximately 70-80 percent of the stomach laparoscopically and with the help of staplers so that the stomach takes the shape of a tube or “sleeve”, in such a way that the patient can continue eating, but in much smaller amount. In addition of being restrictive this procedure has seen that the hormone that regulates the appetite, the ghrelin, diminishes, causing the patient to not be hungry for at least a year from surgery. It has an average excess weight loss at 12 months of 66%, very similar to the bypass not being that invasive.

ROUX Y GASTRIC BYPASS: This is the most successful malpbsorptive surgery, average excess weight loss of 70% on 12 months . It involves creating a small stomach pouch that serves as a reservoir and restricts food intake. The pouch eventually holds up to 3 ounces of food and has a small outlet that delays emptying and causes a feeling of fullness. Then the surgeon creates a Y-shaped section in the small intestine that attaches to pouch and allows food to bypass the lower stomach and upper part of the intestine. This the surgery most recommended for patients with severe reflux and Diabetes.

I had a consultation and met Dr. Michel. I was so excited to meet the person that makes dozens of life changes. The whole experience was a great one. I felt secure with all the precautionary measures they take with you from the beginning of your entrance to their building. The information provided to me and my questions answered. I desired to make my appointment right away and I was given my instructions. Nothing was left to question. The place is really clean. I have seen Dr. Michels work live and feel very confident in his work. He has his credentials visible to where you can see he is very well educated in his line of work.
