SCOD (Surgical Center for Obesity and Diabetes) was started six years ago in 2011 under the mentorship of Dr. Laurent Layani from Weightloss Solutions Australia based in Gold Coast and was known as Weightloss Solutions India. Weightloss Solutions India was a tie up between Weightloss Solutions Australia and Dr. Arush Sabharwal. During the first year of the tie up Dr. Arush Sabharwal felt the term WEIGHTLOSS was not correct as it was misguiding the common public who thought it to be a center for Conservative Management for Obesity and hence had a formal meeting with Dr. Laurent Layani where we had a mutual consensus of renaming Weightloss Solutions India to SCOD (Surgical Center for Obesity and Diabetes). Dr. Arush Sabharwal, belonging to a well renowned family of doctors in Delhi (Capital city of India) and the family runs Nine Hospitals in Delhi. He is the Fifth Generation of doctors in the same family. The Sabharwal Family is the largest family practicing ALLOPATHY Medicine in the world with 140 doctors in the same family. He was recipient of the Gold Medal for academics during his MBBS. Passionately interested in surgery, he joined the surgery training residency programme at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi in 1992. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was actively absorbing the latest medical developments from all over the globe and this exposed Dr. Deep Goel to the fascinating world of Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) while he qualified with the Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in 1996. His passionate zeal for MAS took him to some of the best centers of surgical training in the world. He secured a specialist surgery registrar-ship at the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery at the Royal London Hospital, UK.
