I'm from Canada, I found Dr Hany online about a year ago by accident, I was mainly looking for cheap places to do the surgery, Cairo did not even cross my mind until I found Dr Hany on WhatClinic. It started by me sending an email asking a whole bunch of questions to see if it was the right place for me. The good doctor said all the right things and everything I needed to hear, so I was on board almost instantly. It took me about a year to get all my affairs in order and book the trip, and during that time, the doctor and I were in constant communication to get ourselves ready for the surgery.
About a month or two before the trip, Dr Hany asked me to provide him with a list of medical information he needed in order to perform the surgery. I went to my family doctor and got everything done in Canada with two weeks to spare before my trip.
Once in Cairo I met with Dr Hany the next day. He was extremely caring, professional, always giving me his assurances with a calm and confident demeanour which I found comforting. He was never worried about anything, which made me feel confident towards the surgery, he spent about an hour with me explaining everything that was going to happen the next morning and answered any last minute questions I had about the surgery. Dr Hany was very good about giving me all the information I needed to make me feel ready and confident towards the surgery.
I couldn't have found a better surgeon to perform this surgery he was extremely caring, supportive and was always just a text away if I had any questions or concerns. He would not hesitate to help me by answering my questions, even when I got back home. He gave me all the reports and a DVD of the surgery that I could take back home and give to my family doctor.
This was the first surgery I've ever had in my life and to be honest, I was a bit nervous and scared. However, if I was given the chance, I would do it again. Dr Hany really is the best Surgeon, he forms lasting bonds with his patients. He doesn't just forget about you as soon as you get home. He will always be there to answer your questions and ease your concerns. No other commercial surgeon would ever do that for you. I am so glad I stumbled upon this website last year and found him. I was so lucky to have met him.
Thank you for everything, Dr Hany.
I had the sleeve gastrectomy performed at El Hayat Medical Center in Heliopolis. The care, expertise that was performed during and after the surgery were of the highest quality. In fact, it was better than the level of care I'd have found in Canada. The nurses actually look after you, diligently.
Although I would highly recommend bringing a trustworthy companion with you to look after you and help you after the surgery because for the first few hours after waking up, you will be in pain. Drinking water will be difficult for the first two days, and you will need the help of a friend once you leave the hospital to go back to your hotel and only book a five-star hotel. Do not book a hostel of any kind. After the surgery, you will need the comfort of a five-star hotel to properly recover. You will start to notice your recovery on day 3 and 4.
I would also recommend trying to get a translator with you at least for one night because some of the nurses may not speak the best English and you may need to communicate with them if you're feeling abnormal pain or if the IV fluids start to hurt.
I would highly recommend bringing your own painkillers with you as well, for when you leave the hospital. Talk to your doctor and have him prescribe something for you to take after the surgery. I would also recommend downloading WhatsApp on your smartphone. I found it to be the best way to communicate with Dr Hany.
This hospital was actually the safest and cleanest facility I have ever seen in my life and I live in Canada. I highly recommend this place.
