Ms Sook Wen Lai

Biography:
Physician Lai was among the third batch of graduates who completed the NTU’s double degree programme in Biomedical Sciences and TCM with outstanding results. Equipped with fundamental biosciences and medical biology knowledge, she embarked on the second phase of degree programme at Beijing in 2010, for two years of intensive clinical training and advanced TCM principles learning. She spent most of the time with Dong Fang Hospital, a clinical medical school specialising in integrated Chinese medical treatment and Western medicine health services. She was trained directly under renowned physicians in specialties including acupuncture, internal medicine, gynaecology and paediatrics. Upon returning to Singapore, she further enriched her clinical skills with the following institutions: Singapore Thong Chai Medical Institution, Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution and NTU Chinese Medicine Clinic. Physician Lai is a fully registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Physician in 2012 with the TCM Practitioners Board of Singapore. She has since been practising in various healthcare settings in Singapore. Over these ensuing years, she has developed a keen interest in women’s, maternal and child health with an integrated “East Meets West” approach. She believes that an efficient healthcare should be holistic, natural and “not mysterious”.
Mr Swee Siew Kong - at MacPherson TCM & Wellness Clinic

Mr Swee Siew Kong

Biography:
Physician Kong has gone through a very rigorous course of training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Having graduated with a degree in Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 1997, he decided to pursue his passion in TCM by enrolling himself in the Singapore College of Traditional Medicine, and graduated in 2005 with a Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Not content with this, he went on to further his TCM studies at the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. All of this training will mean little if it is not baptised with the fires of experience. To this end, Physician Kong has acquired much, having honed his clinical skills by attending to a myriad of patients in this impressive list of institutions: Jiangsu Province Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Nanjing City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Nanjing Military General Hospital Xiamen City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Pingdingshan Family Planning & Infertility Centre First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine Further strengthened by his knowledge of western medicine, Physician Kong adopts a holistic, East-meets-West approach. With each new patient he performs thorough physical assessments and studies his/her individual health history, then meticulously explains the diagnostics to the patient. This helps the patient to better understand his/her own condition(s). He also provides invaluable advice on diet and lifestyle to help the patient manage his/her health more efficiently, thereby taking a “30% treatment, 70% self-care” approach.
