About PRO-PHYSIO HEALTH - WEST BYFLEET

Pro-Physio Health has been established by Nick Varns & Richard Lacey since 2012, two chartered physiotherapists whose main aim is to provide an holistic approach to health and well-being with physiotherapy at the heart of its service. Pro-Physio Health has developed an excellent reputation amongst patients, GP's and Consultants around Surrey for our services including Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Sports Massage, Acupuncture and Sports Injury. Our close links with GP's and Consultants around Surrey also make for a quick referral system if required.


Conditions/pains we treat are:

1. Neck -  whiplash, stiffness in neck, headaches

2. Low back pain and sciatica

3. Shoulder pains - impingement, bursitis, frozen shoulder

4. Elbow  and hands - tennis and golfers elbow, carpal tunnel, post trauma/fracture

5. Hips and knees - meniscus injuries, ligament injuries, patella pains, paediatric pains, hip and knee replacements

6. Foot and ankle - Ankle sprains, tendon pains, gait related issues


Our team members offer a wealth of experience and have worked within a wide range of environments including NHS hospitals, private clinics and elite sports teams. We have also been  involved with treating Olympic Athletes prior to the 2012 London Olympics and provided Physiotherapy in the Athletes Village during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.  All our physiotherapists are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health & Care Professions Council.

Biography:

Nick Varns successfully completed a degree in Biology and a separate degree in Physiotherapy from the prestigious St Georges Hospital Medical School in 2008. Nick has worked in various NHS trusts as a physiotherapist to a senior level in a variety of departments including acute strokes, outpatients, respiratory care and community falls.

Nick has treated a diverse range of musculoskeletal pains and injuries with a particular interest in the assessment and treatment of the spine and shoulder. Nick predominantly utilizes a manual therapy approach whilst alongside a firm understanding of pain mechanisms and appreciation of clear, relevant patient education and exercise prescription. Nick is also a registered acupuncturist, a treatment which he feels can help alleviate many musculoskeletal aches and pains and uses on a weekly basis. Nick has developed close working relationships with GP's and Consultants around Guildford and Surrey which if required allows for a swift referral system.

Outside of work Nick is a busy family man with 2 young sons but does enjoy snowboarding annually at his beloved Val D I’sere in France and is a very keen rugby supporter.
Nick has treated at Olympic athlete level working with the Dominica Olympic team prior to the 2012 London games and worked as a Physiotherapist at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 treating and rehabilitating some of the most elite sports athletes in the world at the time.

Biography:

Richard is a Chartered Physiotherapist who has completed a degree in Sports & Exercise Development in 2004 and subsequently graduated as a physiotherapist from St. George's Medical School in 2008. Since graduating he has worked in both the public and private health care service. He currently splits his time between Pro-Physio Health and working as a spinal team lead physiotherapist within the NHS where he is responsible for the treatment and management of individuals with acute and persistent complex musculoskeletal conditions.

He has gained valuable experience as a member of specialist orthopaedic teams in which he has worked closely with consultants and radiologists to asses, diagnose and treat complex conditions. He currently works as a lead physiotherapist in the foot & ankle clinic and has developed a care pathway for accelerated rehabilitation for post-operative Achilles tendon ruptures. He is also the lead physiotherapist in the rheumatology and pain team, where he manages complex cases of persistent pain and chronic conditions. 

Richard is currently working towards his Master’s degree and has a keen interest in treating sports related injuries and managing persistent pain conditions. During his career he has gained valuable experience treating professional dancers, tri-athletes, footballers and basketball players and uses a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture and rehabilitation techniques to achieve patient specific goals
