Mr Tom Willgoss

Job Title:
  Physiotherapist
Biography:
I began my career in sport and exercise physiology at Durham University, progressing to an MSc in Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Since qualifying as a physiotherapist I have continued to be involved within a sporting setting, working with both adult rugby players and elite child footballers in injury rehabilitation and ‘prehabilitation’ (proactive prevention of injury/further injuries). Alongside this, I also work as a personal trainer where my aim is to prescribe tailored exercise regimes for all ages and abilities that can be completed with minimal equipment, and with as much enjoyment as possible.
I have a keen interest in healthcare and currently also work as a physiotherapy researcher and associate lecturer at MMU. An important part of this role involves keeping myself and others updated with the latest evidence-based practice and guidelines. I am currently working towards a PhD in Physiotherapy with a focus upon chronic disease management and the role of exercise in health.
I endeavour to provide a friendly and holistic approach to the assessment and treatment of a range of conditions and wherever possible, encourage the client to be actively involved in his/her management.
