Tim Deykin

Biography:
Following his interest in sport and science subjects at school Tim completed the first Sport Science BSc Degree course in Liverpool in 1980. He continued with research into the 'effects of sleep deprivation on human performance' combined with the role of President of the Students Union. The following year he commenced a Masters Degree at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, but having suffered an knee injury whilst teaching sport, he returned to Britain before its completion in order to register on a Physiotherapy Training Course. He spent three years at Withington Hospital School of Physiotherapy (which was recognised as one of the best school in the country) and qualified in 1985 gaining Professional eligibility and Membership of the Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Andy Pepler

Biography:
Andy is a very keen sportsperson and has engaged in a really wide variety of sporting activities. He has represented the district at soccer and in cross-country and athletics. He has also played at a competitive level, golf rugby and tennis. Prior to starting his degree course at university, he took a gap year and worked in an Outdoor Activities Centre in Wales as an Instructor in climbing and canoeing. Andy completed a Bachelor of Science in Sports Rehabilitation (Honours) at Salford University in June 2004. He had undertaken a successful clinical placement at Sport-Med earlier on in the year and benefited from the experience enormously. He gained great insight into the application of the therapeutic skills which he had learned and practiced over the previous three years. Whilst training at university Andy provided injury assessment and treatment for the university rugby league team at training and pitch side, which kept him very busy indeed and provided enormous exposure to different types of injuries. He provided Team Physio support to the Salford Football Association Teams of Excellence at the U14 and U15 levels. Within a few weeks of joining the Sport-Med clinic Andy had his own patient caseload and played a fully active role in delivering the best possible treatment to his patients. He has successfully completed annual performance reviews and identified a specialist area of interest in Ergonomics and Occupational Health, and in upper limb injuries, in particular the shoulder joint. Andy has undertaken courses and credentialed Professional examinations in Ergonomics and is now the clinics lead practitioner in undertaking Work Station Assessment and Risk Assessment for local companies.

Rachel Loftus

Biography:
Rachel was always a keen participant in sport from an early age. Her main sport was netball and she represented Stockport Netball Team for several years culminating in playing in the World Youth Games. She also developed her skills in athletics and in particular the discipline of Javelin which she threw in the Stockport Athletics Championships. Her sporting activities were also in the water and she trained seriously with the Manchester Aquatics Swimming Club based at the Commonwealth Pool. Unfortunately for her, after sustaining an injury in a minor car accident she was forced to put her sporting participation on hold. This curved the pathway for her career as a sports rehabilitation specialist. And she pursued this profession to help people with the sort of musculo-skeletal injuries she had sustained. After applying her new found knowledge to her own injuries she has returned to sports activity but now mainly for her own well-being. Rachel completed her Batchelor of Science Honours degree at Salford University in June 2007. She had previously worked in and under-graduate capacity at Sport-Med clinic whilst on clinical placement through the University. Her exceptional aptitude and skills were evident at this very early stage, and Sport-Med asked her to keep in touch.
