About ADELI Medical Center

The ADELI Medical Center is an international rehabilitation centre which specialises in treating patients with neurological disorders. From the time it was established in 2003, the ADELI Center has successfully treated more than 2,000 patients, mainly with conditions following a brain injury.

The biggest benefit for every patient at the ADELI Medical Center is its highly intensive, customised therapy programme and the extensive care. Every patient is cared for up to 5 hours a day and six days a week by the responsible multidisciplinary team comprising of doctors, therapists, massage therapists, speech therapists and other specialists. Basically, 5-7 health professionals deal with each of our patients on a daily basis.

The objective of rehabilitation is to improve the quality of life and independence of the patients. One of the goals is to develop the ability to walk and speak as well as self-care ability, but we also strive to achieve non-dependence on family members and in ideal cases, to reintegrate the patient into his/her working life. In case of rehabilitation for children, the main objective is to avoid severe disability in the future and to aid normal physiological development as much as possible.

"Was great and always there to help us"
100%Reviewed 26 Sep 2014 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Neurorehabilitation
Our daughter had a fully individualised programme with therapies all designed to enhance each other and help her condition. She has enjoyed the therapy although it's very, very tough, intense and new compared to what she is used to. Our assistant Natalia was great and always there to help us.

Our other daughter has enjoyed kids club and met lots of other children and made lots of friends- language has no barrier for her! The walks are beautiful round the town and everything is close enough to walk to. Clinic has its own hotel section in the facility and our room had a great view!

Place like no other!

"Best clinic"
100%Reviewed 10 Apr 2014 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Physical Therapy
We are parents of a little boy with cerebral palsy. We have tried many treatments, but Adeli Center is by far the best clinic we have ever been to. The staff is super-friendly and very helpful in explaining what exercises need to be done at home after the rehabilitation. The center is using a special suit from the Russian space programme during the physiotherapy and occupational therapy, which literally made miracles with our son. A high praise for our 5 hard-working therapists, who corrected every one of his movements. The speech therapist was also very good and very sensitive. We will come again soon!

Physiotherapy

Cryotherapy

Thermo-Cryocontrast applications have a facilitating function for the blood circulationand muscle tone normalization; they also help to prepare the body systems forthe intensive neurophysiologic training and proprioception. The hot/coldelements are applied individually on respective body zones to activate the motorsystems before the intensive and long therapy.

HBOT - Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

The Oxymed Center is equipped with the most modern,14-seat, hyperbaric chamber from the German company Haux. It provides atherapeutic method where the patient breathes 100% oxygen in an environmentwith a pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure (precisely, in a pressureequivalent from 10 to 20 meters below the sea level). Patients breathe 100%oxygen through face masks, while certified helmets are available for children.Hyperbaric oxygen is capable of reaching the so-called “sleeping cells”, whichare located mainly in the brain and in the nervous tissue, and it gradually wakesup their metabolism. The therapeutic effect of this therapy stimulates the DNAin each cell, promotes the growth of new tissue, displaces the maleficentoxygen radicals, reduces and heals the inflammation (for example, wounds, pressure ulcers, bone), stimulates the dormant neurons and improves thecerebral blood flow and glucose metabolism.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy,or water therapy, is the use of water (hot, cold, steam, or ice) to relievediscomfort and promote physical well-being. The recuperative and healingproperties of hydrotherapy are based on its mechanical and/or thermal effects. There are numerous proposed mechanisms of action of hydrotherapy, depending onthe specific technique used. It exploits the body's reaction to hot and coldstimuli, to the protracted application of heat, to pressure exerted by thewater and to the sensation it gives. Alternating cold with hot temperatures issuggested to alter blood circulation due to enhance the immune system andimprove digestion. Applying warmth to skin surfaces does cause vasodilatationwhich brings blood to the body's surface. Cold temperature has the contraryeffect. When you submerge yourself in a bath, a pool, or a whirlpool, youexperience a kind of weightlessness. Your body is relieved from the constantpull of gravity. Water also has a hydrostatic effect. It has a massage- likefeeling as the water gently kneads your body. Physical therapy in water makesuse of buoyancy (ability to float) to reduce work against gravity, as well asthe resistance of motion through water.

Neurorehabilitation

Occupational Therapy

Anintegral part of the therapeutic process is the Occupational Therapy (OT) which uses treatment methods to develop, recover or maintain the daily living skills of patients. The treatment andexercises performed on neurophysiological basis are structured so that each2-hour session contains approximately 40 minutes of OT or Ergotherapy. Here, the therapy intervention focuses on adapting to the environment, modifying thetasks and teaching the patient necessary skills to increase the participationand performance of daily activities. Optionally, it can include educating the client/familyon what exercises or adaptations should be implemented when the patient returnshome.

Physical Therapy

Itis the main part of the ADELI treatment programme. This method includes acomprehensive set of neuropsychological exercises in the ADELI suit that areindividually tailored and customised based on the form, degree and thespecifics of the patient’s condition.

Eachpatient gets his own ADELI suit with approximately 120 minutes of neurophysio-logicalmotion exercises per day. The therapeutic effect of the exercises on thedamaged central nervous system is significantly increased by using the specialsuit.

Theexercises performed during the rehabilitation course provide reinforcement andrelative normalisation of the afferent nerve impulses leading out from themuscles and joints. The central brain structures responsible for motionactivity are activated with these exercises. The application of the ADELItreatment allows alleviation of the pathological reflexes and accelerates thedevelopment of new physiological movement patterns.

Physiotherapist Consultation

Ohysiotherapist Consultations are free of charge. The condition of the patient is examined by our doctors, who work closely with the head physiotherapists, in order to determine whether the patient can benefit from our therapy and devise the patient's rehabilitation goals based on the diagnosis, anamnesis, current condition and prognosis for improvement.

Stroke Rehabilitation

General Practice

Children's Health Consultation

An intensive rehabilitation treatment for children lasts between two to four weeks, based on the diagnosis, condition and degree of disability of each patient. The rehabilitation for the little patients takes place six days a week, and four to five hours per day. The team of therapists is headed by a neurologist, who observes the patient, corrects deformities and ensures the high quality of the treatment. The individual therapy supports the development of the child with the objective to enable a normal and independent life as far as possible.

Massage Therapy

Full Body Massage

Themassage is performed by a highly-qualified masseur and it takes between 45 and60 minutes. It is an inseparable part of the treatment program, as it servesmuscle regeneration after an intensive proprioception training (proprioceptionbeing the constant physical sense and continuous perception of one's bodymovements; thus used as the cornerstone for rehabilitation programs). Themassage as a healing method has an extraordinary importance in the treatmentand after-care. It is a set of grapples that the masseur applies onto the bodyof the client. Masseur stimulates the skin, subcutaneous tissue andparticularly the muscles, which improves skin blood circulation, releasesmuscle tension and removes stress. The massage enhances the effectiveness ofother treatments conducted the same day.

Ear Nose and Throat

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy and Orofacial Massage. The purpose of the speech therapy is an improvement of the patient's speech abilityand to further facilitate the communication (neurophysiological exercisegenerally has significant positive effect on speech). The speech improvementsessions in the ADELI Centre are done only by doctors with specialization inlogopedic/speech area of medicine. Depending on the form (dysarthria, aphasia, dyslalia etc.), respective exercises, tongue and face massages are applied.Among others - sound, swallow, and breathing exercises, oro-facial massages,Castillo-Morales methods and sensomotoric lessons.

Reflexology

Thereflex therapy stimulates the acupuncture zones for a further development ofthe central nervous system. It is a unique method ensuring a high efficiency oflaser radiation of the blood. The effectiveness of the laser-light method onaffecting the blood properties has been demonstrated by improving the nutritionof joints. With the enhanced blood flow, more oxygen and nutrients aretransported to the vital elements of the musculoskeletal system. An improvementand relief of pain in the joints is observable as well as better bloodcirculation in the legs. Additionally, this therapy fuels energy, increasesstrength, endurance and stamina. Another benefit is the rheology of the bloodand vasodilatory effect of the therapy. The laser therapy thus cleans unwanteddeposits from the blood vessels, which cures all the symptoms of blood vessel, heart and brain diseases. The treatment thus treats diseases of the nervoussystem, dilutes the blood and normalises the immune system.

Body Treatments

Mud Therapy

During the moor mud treatment, the warm mud withnatural substances is applied directly onto the body of patient. Moor mud(also known as therapeutic peat moss) is anorganic substance, product of natural decomposition of multitudes of plants andconsists of organic residue of herbs, flowers and grasses. It has an unusualconcentration of acids, minerals, trace elements and vitamins - all in a formthat is easy for the human skin to absorb. There are many benefits of the moormud treatment. It promotes blood circulation, stimulates the immune system, fosters muscular relaxation, relieves the pain, detoxifies the organism andimproves the range of motions. Among the numerous positive effects of the mudapplication, the following are particularly relevant for our patients: thereduction of muscle tenseness, improved nutrition to the bones, cartilage, intervertebral discs and connective tissues.
