About Be Pain Free

Since 2009 Stephen has trained and worked with leading Osteopaths both in Dublin and London.  He realised there was a huge need in Navan town for a therapist who could get to the root cause of people’s pain. He treats people with a wide range of ailments: from babies who suffer from reflux and colic to sports people, manual and office workers, pre and post pregnancy pains and age-related pains such as arthritis and osteoporosis and also Neck, Shoulder, Back, Hip and Knee pain. Stephen has represented Ireland at international level in handball while in college and holds many medals for athletics, winning the 800 meters all-Ireland finals at underage. He also played GAA for both Kilmainhamwood and Nobber GFC and had a brief spell with Meath at minor level. Navan, Dunshaughlin, Kingscourt, Cormeen, Kells, and Bohermeen Athletic Club members all avail of Stephen’s services, as do the Nobber, Kilmainhamwood, Kingscourt, Duleek, Saint Vincent’s, Rathkenny and Dunderry football and hurling club members as well as members of the Walterstown and Dunsany ladies GAA clubs.. He also provides services to members of the Carnaross Operation Transformation group, the ‘Active Retirement’ group, and ‘Irish Country Women’s Association Groups’ based in Curraha, Navan, Kells, Moynalty, Bective and Dunsany.

“ My aim is to help relieve your aches and pains through a caring and supportive approach that is both non judgemental and long lasting. It is important to teach every patient that healthcare is more about selfcare”.

I use a combination of Osteopathy and if necessary, sports massage and dry needling.

In addition we are able to provide:
  • Diagnosis and treatment/management possibilities for complex health problems
  • Osteopathic care during pregnancy
  • Biomechanical/postural assessment and rehabilitation advice for long term sport injuries and to improve performance
  • Visceral osteopathy for a wide range of conditions in adults and children
  • Ergonomic advise for your work station
  • Referral for counseling

stephen McDermott

Biography:

Stephen entered the British School of Osteopathy London in 2009 on a four year masters course. The BSO is the largest and oldest osteopathic school in the UK, founded in 1915 to provide undergraduate and postgraduate osteopathy training. Patients with specific needs were treated during the 1000 hours of clinical practice including:

  • Children and babies
  • HIV and AIDS
  • Homelessness Outreach Clinic
  • Sports Injuries
  • Older people
  • Pregnant women

Following graduation Stephen joined the 'Little John centre' practice in Walkinstown Dublin working under the guidance of the experienced Chris Campbell. It was here his love for the classical approach to Osteopathy began prompting him to develop his skills further completing a one year course with the Institute of Classical Osteopathy which involved working in their London clinic.

Stephen also holds an ITEC Diploma in Sports massage, a certificate in Acupuncture/Dry needling, completed Reiki level 1 and 2 with the London College of Spirituality and has a keen interest in treating autism using a comprehensive treatment approach tailored to each child.

'My main goal is to get you back on your feet and enjoying life again without feeling held back or shackled by your pain. I also like to consider my patients stress levels, diet and lifestyle which are important contributors to pain. I love treating people from all walks of life and aim to educate my patients so that they can make simple changes to improve their quality of life.'
