Cost for Children, OAP or unwaged is €50

During your initial consultation, your Osteopath will take a full case history of your current symptoms, your past medical history and your general health. These questions will help to establish the cause of your pain and any areas of the body that may be contributing factors.

EXAMINATION:Your Osteopath will carry out a detailed physical examination of the whole body. This will include a postural assessment, testing of joint mobility and standard medical tests (  if necessary).you may be asked to remove some items of clothes for the examination, so wear appropriate underwear/ bring short or leggings or wear a track suit.

DIAGNOSIS: A diagnosis will be discussed with you during this initial consultation. This should include an explanation of the structure that is causing your pain. ( eg muscle, ligament ,disc, nerve etc

TREATMENT:Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy; the hands on treatment may include massage ,stretching, mobilisation and \or manipulation. Most osteopathic treatment is gentle and should not cause undue discomfort.   If your injuries do require hands on treatment of painful and tender areas , your osteopath will exercise care to make you as comfortable as possible.                                                          Some people experience mild soreness for a day or two after treatment, similar to that felt after mild exercise

SYMPTOMATIC RELIEF : Everybody, and everyones's cause of pain is different,  but generally you would expect to see some changes in your symptoms after one or two visits.         Some long term or chronic conditions may require a longer or more frequent treatment. Pregnancy Massage

MASSAGE THERAPY: for pregnancy available

OSTEOPATHY FOR PREGNANCY:  Specialist treatment is available for clients who are pregnant. Treatment is through the use of classical osteopathy techniques; gentle use of soft tissue massage and articulation of the joints. this is designed to ease the body of pain/ strain related to pregnancy.     During pregnancy enormous physical, chemical and emotional changes take place over a relatively short period of time. The body has to. Get used to carrying up to 20lbs of a baby, waters, and placenta, which can impose great physical strain on the organs, tissues, joints, and ligaments of the body.In order for the pregnant body to adapt to all these changes it has to find new ways to walk, sit and sleep; resulting in new aches and pains arising.

BENEFITS OF OSTEOPATHY DURING PREGNANCY: Osteopathic techniques and treatment can ease some of the symptoms typically associated with pregnancy.these include aches & pains ( back pain, neck, shoulder pain , muscular tension); groin pain; abdominal pain; symphysis pubis pain & sciatica .

Catriona foley offer a specialised treatment for  symphysis pubis disorder / groin pain that occurs during pregnancy.

POST PREGNANCY TREATMENT: we advise that both mother and baby return to see the Osteopath for a check up and, if necessary , for a treatment .It is important to check and correct any remaining strains in the back and pelvis. if the mother is a client at this clinic , then the baby's first check up/ treatment is free.
