About James Lewis Knee Replacement

Specialist Knee Replacement Surgeon working with a truly excellent and stable team. Mr Lewis has top 2 UK experience of the Conformis Custom Total Knee Replacement combined with a pain avoidance approach and  modern pain prevention protocol. He gives talks nationally and to fellow surgeons in the UK. Is privileged to be a visitation centre for other consultant surgeons to observe. In my view this is the Best Knee Replacement available with a high degree of reliability in outcome. The clinic uses low dose spinal anaesthesia with deep sedation such that you are not aware of anything. Walking the same day with experienced physiotherapist. Regulare use of the amazing GameReady cooling and massage device with a comprehensive aftercare program including hydrotherapy. Cost is £13900 +CT Scan, also available via insurance.  The manufacture time is 6 weeks from CT scan

Also Mr Lewis has top 10 UK experience with the Attune Total Knee Replacement System and has carried out over 400.

Both are very good quality knee replacements and both are proven to be better than the standard knees typical of the 1990s and 2000s.

All other adult knee surgery is offered including sports and ski injuries, patella femoral problems, re-alignment osteotomy and partial knee replacement surgery / revision.

Mr Lewis's ethos is to listen, examine, advise appropriate x-rays or scans and then discuss the options. He works closely with handpicked physiotherapists, insole providers and radiologists where guided injections have a role.

I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have my mobility back again pain free

5 50 Hip Replacement • Paid: £17250

I just had a hip replacement by James Lewis at Goring Hall hospital on the same leg I’d already had a knee replacement 10 years ago, so I obviously had some concerns about potential complications. I chose James after research, and as a fit, active, very sporty 75-year-old, wanted someone with a particular interest and experience in sports injuries and understanding of the mentality of sportsmen in their more cavalier approach to recovery! James immediately put my mind at ease. I had surgery on Dec 2, and when I awoke, I had absolutely No pain whatsoever at any stage of my recovery, either at the hospital or at home! Either James is a genius or I’m Superman! I walked out of the hospital unaided after 2 days and drove after 2 weeks. Since discharge, he has always been on tap for any valuable advice I had inadvertently overlooked. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have my mobility back again pain free. I cannot recommend James Lewis highly enough if you’re in need of knee or hip replacement. Derek B

4.5 50 Hip Replacement

I decided to go private to have my hip replaced as I was told it would be 1-2years on the NHS and I was in a lot of pain. I did a search on What Clinic and chose 3 options to get a quote one of which was Mr Lewis at Goring Hall. Most clinics quoted roughly the same price.

I looked into Mr. Lewis’s history and his website and was impressed with his innovative approach also Goring Hall was quite close. I had an initial appointment with Mr. Lewis and came away with a very positive and upbeat feeling.

I am 1 week in from having had my op and my hip is feeling good and I am walking around the house without any aids ( tomorrow I will try a walk outside). His personalised drug program has worked really well, have also had 3 follow-up phone calls to see how I am doing. I am 75 and am impressed with the progress.

All of my pain has gone completely

5 50 Hip Replacement

I had a right hip replacement with Mr Lewis on the 21st of December 2022. My Surgery was a Complete Success. From the beginning, I felt safe and confident that I had chosen the right Surgeon. All of my pain has gone completely. A good friend recommended Mr Lewis to me and it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I felt Mr Lewis really cared and was always contactable if I needed anything.

Biography:
In short I am driven to continually improve every aspect of the knee replacement experience and outcome. The details are in preoperative preperation risk reduction, surgical precision and judgement and a close knit, excellent, stable theatre team. Members include assistant anaestetist, scrub staff, anaesthetic assistant. After care is also extrememly important with hand picked physiotherapist, hydrotherapy, pain prevention and sleep protocol and the amazing Gameready device The surgery itself is carried out without use of tourniquet where possible to reduce pain and swelling and therefore aid early recovery. Implant postionioning with developed techniques for reproducability. Technical areas at surgery including low impact cementing and fixation technique to reduce hammer induced bone trauma and accurately reproduce cement thickness to within 1mm of designers recommendations. I am obsessive regarding infection prevention approach including infection restistant stitches with increasing specialisation, critical assessment, team work. I have made and perhaps pioneered a number of advances which translate in to reprocucabiliity and predictability of outcome. I use specialist additional intstruments, some custom made for a particular stage of the operation, I am privaledged to train and share experiences with other consultant surgeons on a one to one basis and both present at and attend national knee replacement meetings. Most Custom knee replacement patients go home the day following surgery, most Attune knee replacement patients go home after 2 nights. My aim is provide a first class outcome for those with painful knee arthritis seeking: a rapid recovery with as much comfort and minimal swelling as possible, restoration of quality of life, a new knee that feels like one's own, trust and stability in thier knee strength return to an active and enjoyable lifestyle focus on risk reduction including avoidance of transfusion and and an exceptionally low infection risk.
