Dr. Stefano Lucchina is consultant for Hand surgery and Reconstructive microsurgery at Locarno’s Hospital and accredited in the same position at the Hospitals of Bellinzona and Lugano (CH), after having being resident (2003-2004), chef de clinic in 2005 and then “”chef de service” for Hand Surgery (2006 to 2012). After graduating in Medicine in 1999 “summa cum laude”,He became specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery at the”G. Pini” Institute in Milan and the Center for Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the S. Gerardo Hospital in Monza. Biography:

Fimke Gerbrandij is the founder of Ergocentro, a leading hand therapy center in Southern Switzerland. She’s an Occupational Therapist, OT, graduating in Amsterdam. In the early ‘90s She moved to Switzerland where She specialized in Hand therapy and since 1999 she started Her own practice in Locarno.

She has more than twenty years of experience working on hand and upper extremity affections and this led Her to become a faculty member of the local school for OTs.

Since 2016 She works also at the Locarno Hand Center with a young group of colleagues

Louis Bleckman has graduated at the school of physiotherapy of Groningen (Holland) in 1990.

From 1990 to 1994 he worked in Holland and Germany, treating a great variety of patients.

From 1990 till 1994 he followed several post-graduate courses in manual therapy as Cyriax and the Maitland concept.

In 1994 he started working in Locarno (CH) at the Santa Chiara clinic, being the head of the Physio Dept till 2002. Overthere he treated a great variety of patients belonging to orthopaedic surg, internal medicine and general surgery. He was also the Chair of the school of physiotherapy in Lugano during  their practical part in this Clinic.

From 2000 until 2007 he followed courses in ostheopathy at the SKOM in Zurzach- CH.

From 2000 untill now he subspecialized in the triggerpoint-concept of the IMTT in Zürich-CH.

Since 2010 he is board-certified in Dry-needling concept IMTT(with patients with triggerpoints).

Since 2003 he is partner at Fisiocentro in Muralto-CH as an independent physiotherapist board-certified by the Swiss Red Cross.                                                                                                                         

Since 2015 he is collaborating at the Locarno Hand Center where he treats all kinds of pathologies, especially of the upper extremity, like tennis and golfer's elbow.

Tecar-therapy, shockwave, manual therapy, and Dry_Needling and classical physiokinesi-therapy are the mainstay of treatment.

Biography:

Lara De Bortoli is a young and passionated dietician.

After graduating in Nutrition & Dietetics in 2019 in Geneva, she worked as clinical dietician at the “Clinica di riabiltazione EOC” in Ticino.

Since May 2021 she works for the dietician network Oviva and she’s part of the Locarno Hand Center to advice patients about food and arthritis. Particulary to help patient with arthritis reducing their pain and other related symptoms, through an antiinflammatory diet. Food, as well as physical activity, has an important role to reduce body inflammation. She helps patients choosing wisely their food products and changing their eating habits. The antiinflammatory diets consist in: limiting omega-6 fats and increasing omega-3 fats, consuming daily vegetables and fruits & whole grains & nuts and seeds, reducing animal fat (f.ex. meat) consumption and promoting plant sources of protein, as well as providing to the body a satisfying intake of antioxydants (vitamins, minerals). At the same time, there is an antiinflammatory interest to reach or maintain an healthy weight.
