From the very first contact, they will be responsive, transparent, accurate, and personalized

4.5 50 Ankle Injury Treatment • Paid: 7400 €

For those in a hurry: If you are contemplating orthopaedic surgery, I would recommend going HERE - no matter where you are from in the world.
Why:
1. From the very first contact, they will be responsive, transparent, accurate, and personalized.
2. There are no 'hidden costs'. Everything is included in the quote you will receive. The quote will likely be lower than you would pay anywhere else (because they have this down to a science). They will be able to get you in quickly compared to the LONG waiting times in some countries.
3. The clinic is spotless and has top-of-the-line equipment.
4. The medical staff is professional, friendly, and well-trained.
5. The surgeons are extremely specialized and highly qualified. If you need ankle surgery (like I did), your surgeon will be an ankle specialist, not someone who does hips, knees, or shoulders. They each have their own specialty and they are tops in their field.
6. You will have a coordinator who will be your contact person from the day you first make contact until your healing is complete. You will always be able to communicate with a human' - and in this case, it will be a human who is efficient, bilingual, and a consummate 'fixer'. If you have a question, it will be answered. If you have a problem, it will be solved. If you need anything at all, it will be arranged.
7. Your transportation to and from the airport, the clinic, the hotel or apartment, physiotherapy, etc., will be handled by the logistics team. They will meet you inside the airport when you arrive, holding a "NORD Orthopaedics" sign (you won't miss them), assist you with your luggage, and get you where you need to go, whether that is your hotel, the apartments rented by NORD (which, incidentally, have daily medical assistance and are fully fitted for people who are undergoing orthopaedic surgery). You will receive a message to give you time to be ready for pick-up when you have an appointment. They are usually like clockwork. The only time there is a glitch is when another patient isn't ready to go, and the driver must wait.
8. The physiotherapy is second to none and services the national basketball team. This is the national sport in Lithuania, so that speaks volumes.
9. Instructions for pre-and post-surgical care are thorough and explicit in layman's terms. No confusing mumbo-jumbo.
10. The food is really good!!!

I could probably go on with this list, but suffice it to say, I was more than satisfied with the professionalism, the quality of care, and the rest of my experience with this company, and would highly recommend them to anyone who asks. If I ever have another orthopaedic issue, I would not hesitate to come back to NORD. It would be my first choice.

4.5 50 Orthopaedist Consultation • Paid: 8660 €

Cannot speak highly enough about Nordorthopaedic Clinic from arriving at Kaunas airport to nursing care, they all are so nice and could not do any more to make me comfortable in my private room.

Thank you to all the drivers, also I’d like to thank Neringa so professional and friendly in emailing me back and forth.
Also not forgetting my physiotherapist for 7 days top of his profession thanks,

Also like to mention the clinic was spotlessly clean and 1st class up-to-date equipment to take care of my knee after I had a total knee replacement,

Last but not least I’d like to thank my surgeon who must be one of the best and highly qualified top surgeons in Kaunas Lithuania if not all of Europe.

Many thanks I will be recommending this clinic to everyone back in Swansea S. Wales, thank you all so much

The clinic was second to none

5 50 Knee Replacement • Paid: 7800 €

I am from Northern Ireland. I had a total knee replacement at the nord orthopaedics clinic in Lithuania 3 weeks ago. I was recommended this clinic by a friend so I got in contact with the clinic and had all my queries answered by Justina. So within about 4 weeks I had all the arrangements made and my surgery was booked for the 11th of January all by the lovely Justina and also Neringa.

The clinic was second to none. It was a very modern state of the art clinic better than any hospital at home. It all went well and everyone was great Surgeon, theatre staff, nurses at clinic, reception staff, drivers and also physio’s Laimonas and Justina were brilliant. I can’t thank everyone enough for looking after me in Lithuania. I would have no hesitation in recommending the nord clinic for anyone looking to go abroad for surgery.

The doctors and all the staff at the clinic are excellent

5 50 Knee Replacement • Paid: 8572 €

I just got home from having a knee replacement at nordorthopaedics in Lithania. This is the second time I chose to have a joint replacement at this clinic. I had a total hip replacement here in Jan of 2020. The experience this time was as good as the last time. The doctors and all the staff at the clinic are excellent. The after-treatment at UPA was excellent as well. All the arrangements were taken care of by the team at Nord with no problems. Over all I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for joint replacement.

It was Great

5 50 Hip Replacement • Paid: 17000 €

I' a proud Canadian. Was so proud of our Healthcare system up until 6 or so years ago. I needed my Right hip replaced. I was put off by multiple useless meet n greets. Referrals and clinics decide how bad my pain is by people that are so healthy they could never understand the daily pain I live with. After my 2nd cortisone shot wore off, I was told more waiting for a surgeon and 1.5 wait for surgery.

My parents and I decided to search for the evil truth. Private surgery. In Canada privates want 30k plus. I found online Nord Clinic. Emailed. Read reviews. Researched the doctors. Called and contacted prevous patients. I booked through Leva, my helpful wonderful contact. I got costs sent a few tests and xrays. Set my surgery date Dec 1 2022.

Booked return flights, from Edmonton to Vilnius with a couple stops.
Get Medical Assistance 100%. My wife and I were very concerned , esp after being treated in Canada like we don't matter. Well rest assured, Nord Clinic is the Gold standard to which all should be measured. We arrived, stayed a night in Airport Hotel.

Picked up next morning, by English-speaking driver. Drove us to Kaunus where the clinic is. Walked into the Clinic nervous and wondered what was i thinking. Lol well, the staff at the desk were warm and friendly and fast. Within a few minutes I had given blood, been xrayed and shown my medical paperwork. I paid and was told tomorrow 8 am I will be picked up for Surgery & informed my wife she couldn't visit until day after surgery.

Next morning, I was picked up by the kindest young driver. Delivered to the clinic. Minutes, yes minutes later I was in my room getting my surgery gown on. Put my things away. Visits from nurses, inserted my wrist port. Anesthesiologist came by seconds later and my Surgeon. Told me the plan and Implant and answered my questions.

15 minutes later, wheeled into the operating room, felt a coldness on my back. I awoke seemed like an hour later, clear and bright. I have had at least 10-15? surgeries in my life and never beeen so clear after. As the spinal wore off, the nurse checked my Bp and heart rate. Once my feet had complete feeling about 2 hours or so. The nurse came in and got me walking????. It was Great!!

I was walking every few hours. I was well fed and pain was managed without me being stoned and groggy! No Opioids! The next day, my wife was in shock I was walking so well! I was then discharged from the clinic to Upa spa & Rehab. Getting in and out of the transport van was a bit nerve rattling.

But I was fine. ( if each vehicle had the 4” foam cushions for each client, would make things way easier) Up set up a faced paced rehab. Multiple different treatments that my wife told me to be quiet and go with it. She was right! There were way more ups than downs. By the time we were leaving we were confident in my abilities to get on the planes.

Even drove through a snow storm to the airport, but looked after. All I can say is, the Nord Clinic is the best! I recommend 100% without any doubts or hesitation. The language was never a barrier. Their English is solid. The only thing we wished for was better mattress at the Spa and time to upgrade to mesh network internet. But we managed just fine. The Cost was half, the value was twice that of the canadian privates! If your thinking Mexico, or the Us. Check out Lithuania first. Go to Lithuania and see the Nord Clinic. The reviews and youtube videos are for real!

Great experience, very professional 10/10

5 50 Hip Replacement

I had THR in November 2022 the care and support I got was fantastic, very professional all I had to do was turn up. Massive thanks to Justina for arranging everything. Logistics always on time for drop-offs and picks ups to surgery and physio in the clinic itself was brilliant. Very clean and the staff spoke great English. I also have arthritis in my left hip and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Great experience, very professional 10/10. Our country could learn alot from this clinic. The way it's run is fantastic.

Everything went amazingly easy

4.5 50 Hip Replacement • Paid: 7875 €

I had a hip replacement operation at Nordorthopaedics two weeks ago. It was the first operation of my life so I was a bit nervous, not about the operation but the recovery! I needn’t have worried. Everything went amazingly easy. The staff, from logistics to surgeons to aftercare nurses, were all so friendly and professional. Apart from having an operation it was more like a five star hotel, inc the food.

I did rehab in UPA Druskininkai for a week after the surgery and it was just the same. I cannot praise both places highly enough. If I ever need another operation I will go to Nordorthopaedics without hesitation. A Lithuanian truck driver told me about the clinic and suggested I call them. I did, and within three weeks I had organised everything with the help of Rūta at the clinic. I arrived late in Kaunas on a Sunday night, was collected by the logistics team and dropped to my hotel from the airport.

So no stress with arriving at whatever time you arrive. They will be there for you. They picked me up the next morning, took me to the clinic where I did the paperwork, got an x-ray and blood tests and was shown to my room in the clinic. The doctor operated on my hip at 3pm that day and they had me doing physio at 10pm that night. Then they gave me such a huge meal like it was a five star hotel. I was amazed that I could actually stand up that very evening. The only sore part of my body was where I had the staples on my hip.

To this day I still find it laughable that it was so comfortable having my procedure done. The only advice I have for anyone thinking about having a surgical procedure at Nordorthopaedics is GO, don’t wait, just go.

There is a nurse on duty 24/7 and Dr on call

5 50 Knee Replacement • Paid: 7072 €

I returned to Nord for a second knee replacement at beginning of October, having had the first one in early 2019. There was no contest in choice as Nord truly offers a five star experience from enquiry to return home and I wanted the same experience again!

My contact was Justina, who has been outstanding and organised everything for me and answered all questions very quickly. My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Kaunas pre op which was excellent, very central and convenient to shops and cafes etc. I was transported to the clinic day after arrival for blood tests, x rays and to pay and then the following morning I was again collected and taken to my room in the clinic.

The anesthetist came to see me, I had a canula and a preop injection and then I walked across the corridor straight into the theatre. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly and I just remember an ice cold spray on my back then next thing I was waking up! I was wheeled back to room to await feeling in feet. The two days in clinic you are well looked after, pain is controlled and you are up on your feet almost straightaway.

Professor Taraservicius, surgeon, came to see me, as he did last time, and then we were transported to UPA Medical Spa. Hubby met me at clinic to be transported with me. UPA is amazing. On arrival you see the Dr and are given a programme of tailor made treatments to promote your recovery. Polar light therapy, cryotherapy, physio, full back massage.

There is a nurse on duty 24/7 and Dr on call. All meals are included, there is a fridge and kettle in your room, adjustable hospital beds etc. UPA offers a full range of relaxing treatments (pay extra) at very reasonable rates and I can recommend the 60min brightening facial!

I did find this second op more painful to recover from than the first. This is likely to be due to the fact nerves and tendons are not cut now. Recovery is predicted to be faster, but be prepared for discomfort. Ask for pain relief, sleeping tablets ice packs etc. UPA will remove the staples at day 12 if your wound is ready or you can buy a staple remover to take back home.

I am now home at day 19 and my wound has almost healed already! The pain in the knee eases with doing the physio exercises and your best friend is ice! I bought ice packs from Amazon for return home. I am still using 2 crutches, and I am still feeling tired but I am so grateful to have been able to return to this centre of excellence and have no hesitation in recommending Nordorthopaedics clinic to anyone!

All communication beforehand from the clinic was both speedy and clear

5 50 Hip Replacement

I had a hip operation on 4th October 2022. Two weeks after the operation I find I am able to walk with a stick for 300 yards twice a day. I can also walk around the house on the flat without a stick for short distances. Admittedly there have been bruises and soreness to contend with following the op. Amazingly the operation date was fixed within three and a half weeks of my initial contact with NORD. A relative of mine had gone to NORD for a knee op in January and for the second knee in May. Her personal feedback was very helpful for me then knowing what to expect. My wife accompanied on both occasions. NORD came highly recommended. During my 2 day stay at the Clinic, when I had the operation, I saw the surgeon 4 times. He had done many hundreds of ops in his career. He told me what kind of new hip joint he would be putting in. Nursing care from the unrushed staff was on hand throughout, following recovery from the op. Physiotherapy was also given to get the patient to walk with crutches the day after the op.

All communication beforehand from NORD was both speedy and clear. Before I made initial contact with NORD, my relative advised me to get a printout of my medical history from the GP. I also got the report from the NHS orthopaedic consultant. In addition, I obtained the XRay reports. I also requested an ECG. I got my Bloods checked too and got the results. All this was requested by NORD before I went. I was at the NORD Clinic for 2 days and at the UPA for post-op rehab for 8 further days. Allowing for arrival and settling in at a hotel we were away for 12 days. The 8 days was about the right amount to stay at UPA for me. Transport at every point was provided by NORD and they always came on time. It was reassuring to be met at Kaunas airport on arrival. I went with my wife who was a vital help during my time there. Going to have a hip operation 'alone' presents problems of not being able to pick things up off the floor, not being helped to adjust a little in the bed or just getting things needed. Those who went alone found they struggled more than I did and the days could be long. Taking a simple mechanical grabber stick was essential. A long shoe horn is of help too. At UPA near the end of our stay, we took a taxi for 5 euros into Druskininki the nearby town. It was good to walk around there with crutches in a new location. But I did have company. Also took the funicular lasting 20 mins. This gave a bird's eye view of the town, forest and river. The food was very good at the Clinic and at UPA. At UPA, each day, I had physio for 20 mins, cold air treatment for 3 mins and a back and shoulder massage for 20 mins. Focused light treatment was applied on two occasions. I saw the doctor 3 times at UPA and the nurse was available throughout if needed. Wounds were attended to with a new dressing applied. My wife was able to swim each day in the swimming pool and have walked in the surrounding vicinity. There was a lake nearby.

The whole experience at the Clinic and at UPA was reassuring because it was such a caring high-quality environment. Lastly getting to Lithuania from the UK I give some further pointers. If the passport is less than 6 months it is deemed to be soon out of date so you can't travel. A new number is given for each UK passport. The new number is needed to print out boarding passes. Getting a GHIC global health insurance card s advised. Further health insurance could be needed if there is a medical complication not necessarily related to the operation. SAGA provides this if you are aged 77 plus. Paying for the op you need to be sure you have sufficient credit limit if using a Credit card. That's about it. In short well worth getting a hip operation done in Lithuania.

Every member of their team is knowledgeable, and professional

5 50 Hip Replacement

I’d like to share an experience that I’ve just gone through. I am a relatively fit and active 50+ year old male, still in full time employment. In Dec 21 I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in both hips, I was in bad pain and really starting to struggle with work; drugs (the legal sorts!!), along with acupuncture (give it a try), helped to a degree.

I saw my GP, they sent for a consultation with the local NHS Scotland orthopaedic surgeon and it was agreed I needed both hips replaced, on the NHS that would mean a wait of at least 2 yrs for the first op, then a further 3 months for the 2nd, so it would be 30 months before I’d be near to fully fit- far longer than I was willing to wait, and in that time I would have had to give up work and go on benefits.

I couldn’t afford to be out of work that long, and on top of that I wanted my life back. I spent a few weeks researching various private options, both within the UK and abroad. I could go private in the UK within 3-5 weeks, no problem, but at a cost starting around £13500+ extras (initial consultation, X-rays, post op rehab). The price quoted was solely for the surgery on the day, plus a couple of nights post op in hospital, so realistically I’d be looking at a figure close to £15k per hip, possibly more.

Looking abroad there was one clinic that stood out miles over and above the rest in reputation and positive reviews. In fact it all seemed FAR to good to be true, so I became very sceptical and dismissive, at least until I researched it in far greater detail, and found 2 people who were friends of friends on Facebook, one of which very recently (June 2022) had surgery there.

He couldn’t praise the place enough, along with 1000’s of others on the clinic Facebook group, but again being sceptical I assumed all these “patients” were made up profiles, again until you research them and find they are ALL genuine. Anyway, I could go on, but the place is a clinic in Kaunas, Lithuania.

If you are in need of joint replacement, check them out, I’ve now had my first hip done. I have, now, to wait 3 months for the 2nd, their fees are slightly higher than some other European options, but you get considerably more for your money. They don’t do a hard sell, if you contact them they are helpful, but NOT pushy in any way, they will give you all the info you need. They arrange everything, and I mean everything, from when you touch down in Lithuania, until you arrive back at the airport to fly home.

From your first contact with their admin staff, to being picked up and transported around everywhere you need to go by their logistics team, their medical and rehabilitation teams, the whole organisation and experience is fantastic, second to none. I can’t fault any part of what they do for you. Every member of their team is knowledgeable, and professional and will do whatever they can to ensure you have the best experience!

I can assure you, they do know what they’re doing, they are so far above anything that the UK NHS or UK private sector can offer you, they CARE about their patients!

Communication is excellent and the clinic is state of art, clean and efficient

5 50 Knee Replacement

Just arrived back from the clinic in Kaunas after knee replacement surgery and although I am in considerable pain as expected, I would just like to say that anyone considering this clinic should have no hesitation as my whole experience has been amazing from start to finish.

I didn’t know what to expect and knew nothing about Lithuania and Kaunas where I stayed for my duration. My agent Justina arranged everything from initial enquiry through to my departure back to the UK. I am looking forward to making a full recovery, but can rest assured that the clinic is there for me should I have any problems. Communication is excellent and the clinic is state of art, clean and efficient. I would highly recommend.

Arthroscopy

Shoulder Arthroscopy

Shoulder arthroscopy (translated from Greek, arthros – a joint and skopein – to look) literally means “looking within a joint“. It is a so-called minimally invasive surgery enabling doctors to see the joint from the inside. It is called minimally invasive because no big incisions or opening of the joint are necessary with this technique. This reduces the risk of infections and bleeding. Shoulder arthroscopy is performed with the help of an arthroscope – a narrow tube that has a camera and a light at the end. This procedure is very beneficial in diagnosing and managing various joint disorders including damaged cartilage, torn ligaments and tendons, arthritis, shoulder impingement syndrome and rotator cuff tear.

Knee Arthroscopy

Knee arthroscopy is a surgical technique that allows a surgeon to view the inside of the knee and treat the damaged ligaments of the knee joint.

During knee arthroscopy the surgeon makes a few small incisions in the knee and injects saline. Saline is a salty aqueous solution which expands the knee, and therefore, provides the surgeon with a clear s ight of the joint. A tiny camera, which is called an arthroscope, is inserted into the knee making it possible for the surgeon to view inside of the joint and repair the damaged ligaments with a great precision.

ACL Reconstruction

Ligaments are strong bands that connect bones to each other. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a band of connecting tissue which is located in the knee. Four ligaments in the knee are responsible for its stability, two of which are an anterior cruciate ligament and a posterior cruciate ligament. These two ligaments cross each other connecting the lower end of a femur with the upper part of a tibia. ACL is a key structure in the knee as its main function is to keep the knee stable preventing it from sliding backwards and rotating inwards.

Articular Cartilage Regeneration

Articular cartilage can be imagined as a lubricated cushion that covers the ends of the joint-forming bones. It reduces friction and provides a smooth surface for the joint as it bends and transmits weight. Articular cartilage is 2 to 4 mm thick and is composed of water, collagen, proteins, and cartilage cells, also known as chondrocytes. Cartilage is not supported by any nerves or blood vessels, and, therefore, has a low capacity to repair itself after damage. Elbows, wrists, ankles, and shoulders can all suffer cartilage damage, however, the knee joint is the one that gets damaged the most.

Hip Replacement

A hip replacement, also known as a total hip arthroplasty, is an orthopaedic surgery performed in order to restore hip motion and relieve pain of the hip joint. During this surgery, a dysfunctional hip joint is changed into a prosthetic implant.

A hip joint consists of a round femur head which tightly fits into a socket (acetabulum). Normally surfaces of the acetabulum, as well as the femur head, are both covered with a thick layer of cartilage. It cushions the bones where they meet to form the joint. However, due to various medical conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or osteonecrosis, hip cartilage is damaged and can no longer perform its function. Note that hip replacement surgery is performed when all other treatments have not provided enough pain relief.

A hip replacement surgery is done under epidural anaesthesia and deep sedation.

from 3752 €

Knee Replacement

Knee replacement surgery, also known as arthroplasty, is generally regarded as an effective treatment for end-stage knee arthritis. It results in an improved knee function and significantly relieves severe pain caused by degenerative joint diseases. All knee replacement procedures are generally divided into 2 major groups, depending on whether the knee is replaced totally or partially. When trying to better understand the mechanism behind total knee arthroplasty, knowing the anatomic complexity of a knee comes in handy. A knee joint is often compared to a hinge which allows to flex, extend and limitedly rotate the lower leg. Structurally it resembles three separate joints: slightly rounded end of the thigh bone forms 2 separate articulations with a slightly hollow end of the shinbone which has a mobile kneecap on top. The most common indication for total knee replacement is severe osteoarthritis that affects all surfaces of these synergic joints and causes pain which is unresponsive to medical management.

Rotator Cuff Repair

The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that provide shoulder movement and stabilize the joint between the upper arm bone (also known as the humerus) and the shoulder blade. There are four muscles that make up the rotator cuff :

  • the supraspinatus,
  • the infraspinatus,
  • the teres minor
  • the subscapularis muscle.
The tendons of each of these muscles connect to the arm bone. Not only does the rotator cuff allow you to rotate your arm, it also makes it possible for you to lift your arm above the level of your shoulders.

Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder replacement is a last resort treatment for severely damaged shoulder joint. Physiologically, joint surface is lined with smooth and strong cartilage which allows movements through a wide range of motion. However, due to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or severe joint trauma, lining cartilage becomes thin and rough. As a result, it is painful to move and it limits and disturbs daily activities. In such case shoulder replacement is an option. It will not only relieve unwanted symptoms but also will protect from further joint damage.
