Biography:
He attained his primary medical degree at the University of Queensland and his Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He completed two additional years of subspecialty training in Breast and Endocrine Surgery at the Mater Adult Hospital followed by Melanoma and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He attained a Master of Philosophy research degree in breast cancer vaccine development through the University of Queensland and holds an academic appointment as a Senior Lecturer in Surgery with the University of Queensland. Dr Allan works as a Consultant Surgeon based privately in Fourth Floor Surgery at the Mater Private Clinic and is credentialed to admit and operate at the Mater Private Hospital. In addition, he has a public Visiting Medical Officer appointment as a Consultant Surgeon at the Mater Adult Hospital and a Visiting Medical Officer appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Melanoma Unit. Dr Allan is a member of the Australian Medical Association. Specialising in general surgery and surgical oncology, Dr Christopher Allan's interest areas include melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma and breast cancer.Fellow Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Matthew Carmody

Biography:
He completed his specialist training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, after which he moved to the United Kingdom as a senior registrar for the Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and for the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. After leaving the United Kingdom, Dr Carmody then returned to Brisbane and became the Senior Lecturer for General Surgery in the University Department of Surgery at the Mater. He is also the RACS Supervisor of Surgical Training for the organisation and visiting surgeon of Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. His greatest professional achievement to date is recently receiving the President's Award for services to Surgical Training in 2006 at the College of Surgeons in Melbourne. His special interests are in laparoscopic and upper gastrointestinal surgery. He is a Member of the OSSANZ (Obesity Surgery Society of Australia & New Zealand) an is a Foundation Member of ANZGOSA (Australian & New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Surgery Association). Dr Carmody performs gastric banding surgery as part of an integrated team at the Mater.

Dr Simon Journeaux

Biography:
He gained his medical degree from the University of London (UK) in 1986. He undertook his orthopaedic training in Bristol and in Yorkshire in the United Kingdom, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995. He completed Fellowship training in complex hip and knee replacement as the Bone and Cartilage transplantation Fellow at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He subsequently practiced as an Orthopaedic Consultant in Liverpool (UK) for six years prior to immigrating to Australia in 2003. Subsequent to 2003, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and he currently holds CPD and CIME accreditation. He is registered in Queensland and practices in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery. Since 2003 he has held the position of Director of Orthopaedics at the Mater Health Services. He is also a Visiting Medical officer. Dr Journeaux's major orthopaedic elective interest is in lower limb joint replacement including hip and knee arthroplasty with a special interest in revision hip surgery. He practices in both adult and paediatric trauma and is on International AO Trauma Faculty teaching in these areas.In his spare time Dr Journeaux plays the guitar, cycles and runs. He is also a serving RAN Reserve Officer.
