A few months ago I went to Pindara by ambulance around 7.00am on a Sunday morning. I found the ER Unit to be very organized and well staffed. Particular recognition should be given to Dr. Malcolm Osborne and the staff in this unit.
I spent the day in the ER and moved to the hospital in the evening and stayed at Pindara for four days.
My only issue with the hospital was a woman came down to see me in ER about 8.30am on the Sunday morning asking for information of coverage for my medical insurance. Approximately 11.30am another woman appeared, Glenda, and she proceeded to tell me that I was not financial with my fund and it would cost me around $1K per night to be admitted. I then was told that I immediately had to sign a document verifying that I would pay this daily charge. As she toddled off, she then made the comment "will check again tomorrow morning".
My only comment is: if you go to the ER on a Sunday, Glenda may be around to tell you that you are NOT financial with your fund! Do wonders for the blood pressure!!!!!!
The next morning, Monday, at approximately 8.30am Glenda telephoned my room and confirms that I am financial with my medical fund and then laughs. NO APOLOGY - I would suggest that Glenda needs some training in diplomacy and customer service.
The food is not particularly good although it has improved from when I was there for a number of days in 2015. The breakfast menu, in particular, is not good, although you can now get scrambled eggs whereas previously you could have a boiled egg or a boiled egg!
Overall, Pindara is a first class hospital. The facilities are very good and I would always say in an emergency "take me to Pindara".
Found the specialists I have dealt with to be the best and I have had great faith in their abilities. A special mention to Dr. Malcolm Osborne, Dr. Danny Di Vianna, Dr. Andrea Tazbirkova, Dr. David Della.
The parking at the back of the hospital is free, compared to Gold Coast University Hospital where the parking costs are over the top and so expensive.
It is worth having private medical insurance to be able to use Pindara and know that your medical requirements are in first class hands - you see your own doctor/s all the time.
Overall, the staff are great - just don't let Glenda near you unless your blood pressure needs a boost!!!!!
