LASIK
At
Optegra we use the most advanced equipment for Laser Eye Surgery. All laser
treatments involve the use of a laser to change the shape of your cornea and
alter your eye’s focusing power. Making the procedure safer and more accurate
with better results, and completely blade free for a faster recovery.
LASIK
(laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is the most common laser treatment
performed worldwide and is usually a two-stage procedure. It takes around 10
minutes to treat each eye.
Once your eye has been anaesthetised, a femtosecond
laser is used to create an extremely thin flap on your cornea (1). By using a
laser instead of a blade, the flap can be created with greater precision and
with minimal pain. The tissue under the flap is then reshaped using an excimer
laser (2) before the flap is carefully placed back again (3).
Every
individual is different. You will need to have a consultation with one of our
consultant surgeons who will conduct an in-depth assessment to determine your
suitability and tailor an individual solution to you.
LASIK is usually suitable for people with:
Myopia (short-sightedness)
Hyperopia (long-sightedness)
Astigmatism (irregular- shaped cornea)
